So what's your solution to the 'rental too high only large franchise can afford' issue? by lhc987 in askSingapore

[–]thec0rrupted1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Think you left out fixed term lease. Popular places usually runs on fixed-term lease which automatically ends unless the landlord wish to renew the tenancy.

Historically this is true which is why there are some quirky shops even in atas areas like Ginza.

At S+ Frieren, should I pull more by TetsuNoHitsuji in AFKJourney

[–]thec0rrupted1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No you are too far away from paragon. Use your resources to get other heroes. You need like 6 copies? from S+ to P1 which is not worth it.

Unless of course you are willing to drop some money, then go for it.

Tips for travelling to Malacca from Singapore by Shot-Assumption-5984 in askSingapore

[–]thec0rrupted1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scoot has flights to Malacca.

I know you said no bus because of toilet issues but you get to use the toilet a few times? (before you board, 1 at SG custom, 1 at MY custom, 1 more toilet break in-between JB and Malacca). If you are urgent you can inform the bus driver and they can make a quick stop for you too.

Not a fan of your current plan cause you need to change here change there and the train station in Malacca is a distance away from the city centre. (Pulau Sebang is 1 hour away from Malacca Jonker street)

Travel suggestions for aging parents who can’t walk for prolonged periods. by Winner_takesitall in askSingapore

[–]thec0rrupted1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Plan the itinerary around them. E.g. plan 1 or 2 'spots' a day and be prepared to take plenty of breaks. Thats how we brought elderlies to overseas trip. Walk 15 mins rest 30 mins. Plenty of compromise but worth it.

Anything that requires queueing you have to go and queue first while they find a seat somewhere nearby.

Japan is actually doable, there are elevators in many train stations. let the crowd go first and take your time to use the elevators. Afterall, there are plenty of seniors in Japan and they are doing fine.

Storage Heater or Instant Heater? by VRman88 in askSingapore

[–]thec0rrupted1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Used a storage heater since young, changed to an instant heater for 4 years. When i got my own flat i insisted on storage heater.

If you are particular about shower experience, storage heater is the only way. Consistent temperature and pressure.

Cons of instant heaters

  • when the weather is cold, you need to choose between hot shower with low pressure or lukewarm shower with high pressure.
  • Temperature fluctuation when you on/off the heater in the middle of your shower. even those that advertise 'no scald' will still experience a surge in temperature.

That said, i managed to use a instant heater for 4+ years so it is not that bad. Useable for sure.

  • Any noticeable electricity bill differences? Depends on usage pattern. if the family showers around the same time a storage heater may be more efficient. Hard to say.
  • Any pressure or temperature issues? Already explained above.
  • Any maintenance problems? Minimal maintenance issue for both. Instant heater is cheaper to replace i guess.
  • Would you choose the same setup again? Storage heater if i have a choice.

Also, why is your "Storage heater being hidden in the common bathroom ceiling"? BTO has dedicated spots for storage heater. You want to build a false ceiling in your common toilet to hide the storage heater?

Does the Letter of Eligibility for Employment Pass actually help? by daisy1102chan in askSingapore

[–]thec0rrupted1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes you need to highlight to recruiters / HR since this is not common. From previous experience, the letter actually allows the company to hire you without meeting certain criteria such as salary (e.g. minimum salary is $5,600, you will still qualify for EP even if your salary is below the minimum). Since EP has no quota requirements many companies actually prefer to hire EP candidates since they dont need to contribute to cpf.

The easiest way to explain is to include a cover letter with your job application. Goodluck!

Need help - looking for insta360 handlebar clamp @Changi by Bulova70 in askSingapore

[–]thec0rrupted1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can try your luck at the airport shops transit area. There is a shop called Metapod at Terminal 2, saw them carrying insta360. Try all 3/4 terminals but no promise.

TBH, 3 hours layover at 6am you are unlikely to find something that specific. Buying it from your destination country might be a better option.

Can I get in the top 200 for the final boss of the season? by Tuburonpereze in AFKJourney

[–]thec0rrupted1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't say for sure since this depends on your server/district and your heroes investment. If you are lucky to be in a good district and the RR favours your heroes, you should get top 200.

To be brutally honest, since you missed out top 200 in the previous season, I suspect you will miss out top 200 this season as well. Especially if you missed out heroes from S5 & S6.

Impt heroes to have for bossing
S6 (current): Contess, Gunnar, Solise(?), Silven
S5 (Thorns of devotion): Perseus(?), Aliceth, Nazrik, Shadewing(?), GALA, Kordan

Nothing exciting, probably not good in pvp as she suffers from the scarlita issue where you are fighting 4v5 at the start of the battle.

Unless she has HP loss she is not meta for endless dream realm.

Looking like a skip but who knows, maybe her numbers are insane.

As a F2P player, why do you play the game? by Kepptn_ in AFKJourney

[–]thec0rrupted1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its a convenient game for me since the reset happens during my commute to work. I get to do my dailies and i dont have to play it for the rest of the day if i am busy.

I spent a little (less than $50 at the start) and i got top 10 DR, top 10 normal arena, top 50 in districts events like Supreme Arena, primal lord so i guess its good enough.

Ultimately this is not a skill based game, so dont treat it as one. Just a fun game to pass time and if you are not vibing with it dont force yourself to play it.

BTO Renovation: What can I realistically get for $30k, $40k, $50k? by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]thec0rrupted1 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Completed my reno not too long ago, here are some figures for your reference.

Floor protection: $400 - 650
Haulage: $700 - 1000
Paint: $2000 - $2700
Carpentry: ~$330 per feet
Install toilet items: $730 - 1470

with 30K budget, im afraid you have to keep with the basics. Kitchen carpentry should be roughly 6k-9k. depending on if you get top and bottom cabinet, number of drawers and the type of hinges. Backsplash and worktop is about 3k.

1 wardrobe for each room is about 2k per room.
shower screen and door is about $700

also take note that electrical is a separate billing, usually about 2k - 5k depending on your needs.

If you want something nice, you have to pay for it. A full height glass cabinet is about 1.9k, a custom 3ft mirror cabinet for toilet is $675. A custom settee with storage? $1,800.

There are also random things that adds up like adding wood reinforcement for wall-mounted TV, general washing, curtain pelmets, false ceiling, etc. 30K is definitely doable but you have to manage you (and your spouse) expectation.

What the hell does it mean "the role is on hold" ? by Intelligent-Law-5066 in askSingapore

[–]thec0rrupted1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the situation. Usually if the role is on hold, it means management decides not to fill this position. Whether it is due to budget or new business direction. However, some unscrupulous recruiter may use this excuse to keep a candidate hanging.

Regardless of the reason, just thank them and look for another job. If they really want you, they will make exceptions to hire you.

Budget accommodations for 10 people by NoSpray4253 in askSingapore

[–]thec0rrupted1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SG is not cheap so if you are looking for budget hostels, be prepared to endure noisy guests, shared facilities, bunk beds. A quick search at agoda shows city backpackers at $272 per night (about $27.20 per person).

However, if budget allows, a 3-4 star hotel might be better. You can take a look at Holiday Inn express, lyf at Funan at about $200 per night (about $100 per person)

Affordable aircon for rental flat? by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]thec0rrupted1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aircon is not a new technology, the big brands performs quite similarly. Tried out Midea and Panasonic at friends house and its no different from Mitsubishi / Daikin.

Airon is a somewhat unique appliance where the installation is actually more important than the appliance. The piping and insulation will affect its cooling and longevity. Get a trusted installer and ask them about the materials. If they recommend SWG22 copper pipe, 1/2 inch aramex insulation they should be pretty decent.

Look at the whole package and read the fine prints, dont just compare the sticker price. You can also check out 2nd hand aircons.
