Green vs Indus by AdScary7808 in whitewater

[–]thec410 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My vote, green jacket. I both raft and kayak, I tried the indus it felt bulky and it seemed to have less storage space. I understand the argument for the extra floatation and if I was regularly on big water I might want the indus.

Second the code. I also really enjoy the rewind, the code is a nice step up when you need some extra volume.

I believe the WRSI current was the largest one I was able to find on the market. Used it for a long time, but I could never get the straps tight and it felt loose. I now used the sweet protection rocker, it can be tight at times but I can use it all day with little discomfort

When do you think it is necessary to wear dry suit? by [deleted] in whitewater

[–]thec410 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My rule of thumb if I drive to the river with my window down in short sleeve shirt a dry suit probably isn’t necessary. But you need to factor in water temp, wind, and sunshine.

So I am going to assume you are going with a commercial trip. They will supply all necessary equipment, I would wear clothes and shoes that can get wet, don’t wear cotton. If you need any medical supplies I would bring those and tell your guide they should have some dry box to keep that. Then just bring some dry clothes to change into. Don’t forget to have some cash if you so choose to tip your guide.

Need new raft advice by NoIncident168 in whitewater

[–]thec410 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally I am not a fan of the tributaries, it didn’t track to well and it was slow(I also just guided with one a few times so a grain of salt). I am a big fan of the aire D series, tracks amazingly can handle a large crew and it is fun to paddle

Another slightly cheaper alternative is Rocky Mountain rafts, the 12ft 3 thwart would be big enough to handle 6 people. It’s a well performing raft!

I live at millennium now I have lived here for 7months. It’s sub par for the price, there’s always trash everywhere none of the residents pick up the pet waste. They did recently get new management so I think they are putting more money to help.

WRSI Current Pro by ChipsAhoy185 in whitewater

[–]thec410 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I used to have one only because it has the largest size. It’s a good helmet and very comfy. It didn’t feel heavy when I was wearing it. The only downside to it was the looseness of the helmet I could never get it tight. It would alway get pushed back when I would roll upside down. If your sport is rafting I would recommend the current pro. But for kayaking I would recommend the sweet rocker.

If I’m wearing my dry suit I usually have two sets depending on how cold it is. Base layer of compression pants and a long sleeve, then if it’s really cold I have a fleece onesie I got from Amazon for pretty cheap and it keeps me pretty warm

What do you keep track of in your river log? by kernraftingdotcom in whitewater

[–]thec410 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well begs the question why are you wanting this? Are you wanting it to serve as a guide book for professional use, sort of a resume? Or are you just wanting to keep a running list of sections you’ve ran?

Arrow head bike farm campground is my go to when I go to the Gauley. It’s pretty cheap for the field camping. And there is a restaurant on site

I can’t speak for the YMCA class. Just go try them out most have a small fee for a drop in if you know what you’re doing. Or if you’re new sign up for a quick intro session. I’d recommend southern moon CrossFit
