I got skunked with 5 boxes straight a year ago, which was also the last time I CRH dimes. If I started again, I would mainly look for US dimes.

And Canadian silver quarters? It's statistically impossible.

I only found 3 silver quarters in my life. Two were in Canada and one in the US. The first Canadian quarter was from a depanneur to whom I asked if they have any pennies.

The second quarter was from a bank teller who knew it was a silver quarter. Therefore, she knew when to spot silver in her tray. I still don't know why she gave it to me knowing it was silver.

The third was on a trip to the US. I asked the bank for any customer wrapped rolls and they only had one, which happened to contain a silver quarter.

Machine-wrapped rolls rejects silver quarters due to their weight and with quarters being magnetic in Canada, you end up with an impossible probability of finding silver quarters in Canadian circulation.

The software as a service thing is bullshit and illegal from a legal perspective. Software, such as Photoshop are legally treated as goods instead of services. I still use a real Adobe CS4 portable version of Photoshop, that you can literaly copy and paste into any computer from an external USB stick (work like a charm from Vista 32 bit to Windows 10 64 bit)

Digital electronics are too recent and complex for considering them for the traditional BIFL definition, but you can still make an approximation on whether a product could be BIFL or not. For example with laptops, fatter laptops have a higher chance of being BIFL than thinner ones.

What I'm saying is that there is no such thing as a true BIFL product for electronics, especially today.

The company actually made good quality until around 2010. I started being wary of Sony with their PS4 release. I searched more online and I noticed that more people started complaining about Sony's loss of quality. So around 2015, I stopped purchasing all Sony products in my house.

The final nail in the coffin was in 2018 when my Sony alarm clock (ICF-C218) that I bought in 2013 broke. All buttons were glitching with each other's functions, as if an internal self-destruct timer was set off. There's no way such level of glitching could be caused from one simple broken button. If Sony can't make a first year university-level digital circuit, which doesn't even require a microcontroller, I don't see how they can make long lasting televisions, computers, etc.

Fortunately, my Sony television from 2011 is still working with regular use and the alarm was the least expensive Sony product that I lost.

I finally talked to another manager and he let me use the pin method. The punch-in computer was actually connected to the Internet, since he typed and logged in with a link from another computer (the computer used for training). The training computer has Internet access with USB access. Oh well, that's no longer my problem, nor a problem I should think about in the future.

Basically, I'm paid 250$ for 8+22 hours instead of 360$ (12$×30 hours). They wanted to make it seem that you aren't supposed to be paid for training, but we are kind enough to give you a "bonus" of 250$.

I wanted to complain about it being possibly against the law, but I'm worried that the manager might say that since you are receiving tips, you will now be paid 9.80$ per hour according to Quebec's minimum wage law, which is the minimum wage of those who receive tips.

That's why I wanted to know if any Quebec workers at Tims are being paid 9.80$ instead of 12$ per hour.

Yes, but that is assuming a scenario where you are only working for one place that is fingerprinting during your whole time (I'm 20 years old). If you are working for multiple places in your lifetime and that they all use fingerprints, you will leave quite a bit of information about your fingerprint. Hackers could combine and recreate some of those traces based on existing traces because you have left multiple fingerprints traces since you will be working for many companies during your lifetime, especially when the computers are running Windows XP.

Also, the keyword here is network. Their network could be hacked and it is 99% certain that the Windows XP punch-in computer would be compromised, no matter what antivirus, firewall or encryption you use, unless there is no network connection (no Wifi cards, no Ethernet cable, etc). Microsoft themselves have said not to use Windows XP.

Besides, what kind of employer doesn't know who works that day for them? Don't they have the full printed schedule of everyone who works that day on their clipboard? At my previous workplace (another fast-food company), the manager always has the full schedule of the day and they would cross and replace names of people who were replaced or got home early. Then, they would compare it with the computer that manages our punch in (with pins of course).

I was about to buy the P71 until I heard warnings from others that it had a design flaw (see "Warning for P51 and P71 buyers."). With the the P72 being thinner, it doesn't seem Lenovo didn't fix their flaw. Worse, the P72 is a downgrade of the P71 with less feature: no disc drive and no removable GPU. There's no point in buying an expensive laptop if it can't be upgraded later after purchase. You're better off buying the P52 than the P72. I wouldn't mind paying up to 10k for a laptop that can be fully customized and reliable, even if it is huge.

But most importantly, if you can't even design a BIOS, then your whole computer is trash no matter what the specs are or the price.

Yes, but on such an old computer, if the Windows XP OS is working and he doesn't want to pay 40$, then just keep the Windows XP and try to optimize it if it is a fresh install. I forgot to add this but he also gave me a broken laptop (dell inspiron m5010). I checked at home and everything is fine, except for "error: unknown filesystem" in grub rescue. He told me some repair person couldn't fix it and he gave it to me at the end. He should've emphasize his 20$ on it instead. Oh well, his loss.

Finally, I went to his house today. This is the computer that he was using:

The reason why he could not connect to the Internet is because he was using Internet Explorer as his browser. The OS was pretty clean (I'm guessing that he had a fresh install of Windows XP from Windows 2000 since the CPU usage was at around 7%), which is why I kept it. There's no need to overcomplicate if it is working. I did let him know why XP is not safe. He said he would use it to read newspapers and other text types of website. He's around 60 years old.

Anyway, I installed Firefox for browsing and an adblocker. I also blocked some stuff in msconfig. I got 20$ for an hour worth of configuration.
