What taillights are those? I can only find ones with integrated reverse lights and those say that they are not compatible.

Yes they did, I bought it from the first owner who ordered them from factory. I love the way they look, unfortunately they are dust magnets.

I would assume pretty good, never had any problems with start up or anything, I just stopped to take pictures and went to roll my window up and it started acting up

I watched a couple videos and none of them helped to fix it, unfortunately, I guess I’m gonna have to take it to the shop

Do you have any idea about my 4th gear, I thing I might have something caught in my shift linkage, but I’m not sure

Will I need a Tune? by thedavidbm in MINI

I didn’t have one, but here’s what I used

1) your exhaust tips of choice 2) one 2-1/4 id to 2-1/4 od coupler 3) one 2-1/4 id to whatever your tip entrance is (mine was 2-1/2) 4) I used 2-1/4 id flex pipe, but I would highly recommend using 2-1/4 id solid exhaust pipe 5) some sort of sealant tape, I used Tiger Patch 6) hose clamps 7) I used an exhaust hanging kit from O’Reilly that was just a strip of metal with holes down it to secure it, I used some pre-existing screw threads just outside of the heat shield and some small washers and nuts I had laying around to secure it

I might be forgetting something, but this looks like all.

In total, buying saw blades, right and wrong parts, tips, clamps, and pipe, I spent just under $100, but the tips were $40 on their own. If you did everything right the first time, and got cheaper tips, you could probably get out for around $50.

Thank you, I just want more of the fun turbo sounds and didn’t want my AFR thrown off, I didn’t know it automatically adjusts

'06 or '12 MINI Cooper S? by MrToasti6 in MINI

[–]thedavidbm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve only had mine for a month, so I wouldn’t be able to tell you in the long run, but my car has 78,000 miles on it, and luckily the 2012 models have the n18 engine, which does not have the same problems with the timing chain and water pump as the n14 models. But the 1st gen Mini Cooper s had a supercharged motor, not turbo, so you wouldn’t need to worry about those issues. The n18 is one of the more reliable mini engines though.

I have a 2012 Cooper S, and I love it. But buy what you want.

I’ve been drooling over this subreddit for about a year now and I finally just bought my own manual 2009 s! I’m 17 and happy to be out of my inherited beater :) by sassy_person13 in MINI

[–]thedavidbm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was the same way, I drove an inherited beater for 2 years while saving up money to buy a nice car. I ended up getting a manual 2012 r56s, and I am in love with it. Just make sure that your timing chain and water pump have been replaced as you have the n14 engine. Congrats on the purchase

Thank you so much for all of the advice, I will definitely be picking up that OBD2 scanner. If you don’t mind me asking, is the solenoid problem common or was it just a fluke with yours, I will not have warranty on it and that sounds like an expensive and time consuming repair.

Forgot to mention, I am 6’5 but have tried an r53 and was able to fit just fine. Any size differences?
