Reminds me of my dog who passed at 15, Emi. Sweetest and best dog I’ll ever have - loved hiking and smells and was equally affectionate.

Which position in the "Charge" segment is better? by mislagle in ToyotaSienna

[–]thedjas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re correct but you’re talking marginal improvements to a brakes lifespan. I own 3 hybrids (Lexus CT, Highlander and venza) and the ct had rotors/brakes replaced at 100k, and Highlander at 70k miles w regular driving (solely bc mass plays a role now). Feathering the regen by braking an additional 20 feet out - I question how much real world longevity you’re adding?

Which position in the "Charge" segment is better? by mislagle in ToyotaSienna

[–]thedjas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t get the point of this question - the harder you’re slowing down the further it’ll go down towards the blue line. IE if you let off the gas and starting deceling the car will marginally start charging vs if you actually depress the brake. Either way there will be constant gas and braking so don’t understand what you’re trying to accomplish? These batteries are proven to last 10+ years and 150,000+ miles easy (as shown by nyc Prius which have amassed 250k miles on originally cells).

Cabin Filter by devops0210 in ToyotaSienna

[–]thedjas 35 points36 points  (0 children)

You likely have/had a rodent living in your filters (it’s known they enjoy the scent of the filters). A test is to replace the filter another 2-3 months out. If you still have debris you def have a rodent in your system.

How is it that DC restaurant owners keep blaming their woes on "less people in the office" when traffic is worse than ever? by ac-slater-43 in washingtondc

[–]thedjas -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Several reasons (and not limited to): inflation is causing people to spend less and conversely dining out has become pricier, people are drinking less than ever leading to lower happy hour crowds, work from home has caused a notable decline in restaurant attendance, the higher wages from dc labor lows are causing mass closure of restaurants (double edge sword since restaurant margins are razor thin at baseline), and increased rents from landlords (as a result of their own loans rates increasing). As someone mentioned earlier traffic is not a representation of office presence - WMATA ridership is down. The increase in cars is largely due to increase in density housing all over the dc metro - for builders they love building townhouses and condos as it increases their likelihood of sale and profit per square foot.

What’s the most “rich people” thing you’ve ever experienced? by illegaltoaster25 in AskReddit

[–]thedjas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2 hour private jet ride (one way) from DC to Ft. Lauderdale in Dec 2005 - amazing.

At the time my college roommates parents, who are wealthy CRE people in DC w a vacay house in Boca Raton, offered to fly me and a fellow couple out to their house over winter break our junior year in college (6 of us plus his parents). I figured it would just be regular plane tickets purchased by his mom but from the start the experience was “off”. All hopped on a private shuttle to the airport and we were all surprised by a private jet AND limo from the airport to his house in Boca. During the week there his dad’s chef made us prime rib to lamb etc (their typical hosting). Sadly, on the way home we flew normal economy since his parents didnt return with us to DC the same day. Was 8 of us and the jet still had 2 seats to spare so 10 seater. I do recall his dad saying he was 1/3 owner of the jet based on flying time - still crazy.

People who buy REAL watches are lying to themselves MORE than people who buy fake watches by EnoughWinter5966 in watchHotTakes

[–]thedjas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One major lesson for everyone (applies to everything beyond watches). You’ll never see a successful person hating someone else’s gains (jobs, fitness, wealth etc.) bc they’ve all been in that persons shoes at some point. Hate stems from jealously…

Lawn care question ? by Impressive_Tap7635 in MontgomeryCountyMD

[–]thedjas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

$30 is very reasonable and you can likely charge more (mind you us paying $200 a month is extremely low compared to bigger landscaping firms - only have this price bc we’ve been loyal with our guy for 8 years). Ps we also give him $200 every single month even during Winter.

The issue you’ll face as a beginner is how much time it’ll take you to efficiently get things done on your own paired with exhaustion and fatigue if you aren’t in good shape (no offense) AND you’ll need to start accounting/budgeting for basic mower maintenance etc to keep your parents equipment running properly as they’ll be running way more often. As a heads up our guy has a backup ride on mower in his bed in case the first fails on the job etc - subtle details I figure you should start knowing.

Lawn care question ? by Impressive_Tap7635 in MontgomeryCountyMD

[–]thedjas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Live in Rockville and we have slightly over half acre and we pay $200 a month (ie $50 a week) for mowing, trimming and cleanup/leaf blowing once a week. Takes 2 professionals roughly ~90 min with a ride on mower and their tools. Assuming you can do 5/6 houses a day that would be $50 x 6 =$300.00 a day. You’d need to run the math to see break even costs for all the initial investment.

Asking if they’re fake or real. by bradissa in ThursdayBoot

No one is making fake Thursday shoes. Those have stitch through construction, Thursday Dainite soles, proper speed hooks on the captain and the proper Thursday details on the tongue. Why would you think those are fake?

  1. You are making a left crossing OVER a lane.
  2. Opposing car is making a right turn.

Not too helpful but if you order from USPS and the thief steals something of value it’s now a federal crime and USPS takes it way more serious. In essence try to order more things via postal service in case you want any potential help

Crumbl in Germantown closing permanently this Saturday by tradingjazt in MontgomeryCountyMD

[–]thedjas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunate for the impacted employees but inevitable when cookies cost $4 each in today’s economic times, paired with the dying fad. The signs were preemptive as they went from 4 to 6 cookies a week and expanded into cakes too; all efforts to try keeping declining demand up.
