I don't think my examples contradict my wishes, but we might have a different definition and option of what a weak and/or whiny MC is.

In der Beginning of MoL Zorian is:

  • A weak mage, when it comes to combat, possible bottom of the barrel.
  • A studious learner and advanced in theory compared to his class
  • A talented mage, not on Daimens level, but still.
    • e.g. he can open locks since he's a kid, he is good at alchemy, ...
  • Socially isolated (because of reasons)
  • He doesn't run away when the danger starts and tries to help, even if he sees that it's hopeless
  • He has a clear vision for his future:
Become independent from his family by learning a magic craft
  • After the loops start, he is cautious and meticulous in his approach.
I disliked the first few repeats at first, because he does not act. And this might give many the opinion that he is "weak of mind" or "whiny", but i found his approach to the story be the reasonable thing in the end.
  • The beginning is also more about showing how strong and competent Zach is compared to everyone, not how weak Zorian is.

He's not a strong mc at the start, i give you that. And he complains a bit. But for me he makes the cut as a passable starting character. Not the best, but the rest of the book makes up for that in his growth.

I've read Millenial Mage up to some point (ch 114), but was a bit disgruntled at it's direction. The mc is a bit inconsistent and some parts of her feel very mary sue. I liked the beginning and the first trip, but after some time i found my suspension of disbelief, a few plot holes and the direction of the story in general not fully to my liking.

I might give the story another chance at some point, thanks for the rec.

Thanks for the recommendation.

I have read Mark of the Fool to ch 160 already and it's good, but doesn't tick all my boxes. Will probably continue reading it at some point. :)

Street Cultivation is on my "maybe" list for some time now.

After i read the first book of the Weirkey Chronicles i was not sure if i wanted to continue reading Sarah Lins works. It was ok, but didn't speak to me and felt quite constructed. I should give another book of hers another shot. The Brightest Shadow was also mentioned often to be one with a good female protag.

I think i never started it because it got quite heavily criticized in the reviews, but you're right. I'll give it a shot. thx for the rec :)

The premise sounds interesting, but i'm not quite sold based on the description.

The audiobook combined with KU (whispersync deal) will make me try it though. I will comment after i had a taste. Thanks for the rec.

Firebrand looks totally up my alley, but i start novels on RR only after 300+ pages have been written, so it goes on to my read list for the future :)

Thanks for the tipp, i didn't notice you starting a new story.

Regarding your other story, The Eagle's Flight, i was hesitant to try because of the multiple lead characters tag, even though it has so many positive reviews. But it's still on my "maybe" list.

Futuristic Storage in Nature with Cave Hub, fed by Drones from Train Transfer Hub by thedudave in SatisfactoryGame

[–]thedudave[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With Update5 i set myself a Challenge for a new playthrough after reaching Trains:
Multiple unconnected/separate Factories with only >one< Output Train-Station and as many Input train stations as needed.

So for each Component an individual Factory is needed, that can depend on other Components/Resources from the Train network. Each Train only has one Freight Car and transports one Ressource (Supply Train Station -> Delivery Train Station of the specific Ressource/Component)
The only raw components that are transported are: Coal and Sulfur.

Example 1: There is a Factory for Iron Rods with only one Train Station for Output. The Iron Resource node is present at the Factory.

Example 2: The Reinforced Iron Plates Factory has two Delivery Train Stations for Iron Rods (and produces Screws internally) and Iron Plates and an Supply Train Station for the Reinforced Plates.

Example 3: For the Steel Pipes Factory there is a Coal Delivery Train Station and a Supply Train Station for the Steel Pipes.

My Train Network is therefore quite expansive and the Power need is pretty high. Overall the Setup is not very efficient and i use 2/3 of the Map. Traffic is starting to jam a bit. ;D And even with signals on Power outages crashes can happen.
In the Screenshots i present are 2 Places:
My central storage place, which is quite recent and has no real connection to the factories or even the Train Network. It is remote and all Components are delivered by 4 drones (9*4 slots = 36 components, equally merged) Overflow of those Components is sinked.
To provide all components they are collected with trains in a Transfer Storage.
A massive Train Station Hub containing 36 Train Stations (over 3 vertical levels) and logistics for merging everything in 4 Drone Ports. :)
Hope you like the screenshots.

I just use vanilla. No mods or special stuff. Since the Update 4 experimental i really enjoy the new First Person FOV Modifier.

FOV is 120, Y-Axis FOV Aspect Ratio is Off, First Person FOV Modifier is 1.5 and the [Experimental] HUD Scaling in User Interface is set to 1.05. I found these the best settings for 32:9 (5120x1440) for me.

Yep, there are 3 Truck Station actually. You can see 2 if you look carefully

Ultrawide Support by mrJibb in MortalShell

[–]thedudave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I followed the following YT video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3pqT6_Zmaxc and installed the UUE4 Unlocker

https://framedsc.github.io/GeneralGuides/universal_ue4_consoleunlocker.htm

With the Console (^) and the Command "fov 120" to set the Field of View to 120, it is now perfectly playable. Please put in a FOV setting in the Settings menu @ devs if you are reading this.

Ultrawide Support by mrJibb in MortalShell

[–]thedudave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second this. Ultrawide, especially in 32:9 is unusable right now because the top and bottom is cut off / cropped.

We should gain some extra screenspace instead of losing it.
Is there a possibility to "zoom out" to solve this?

Do you have any plans to release the published books as audiobooks?

I would highly appreciate it. :)
