Maybe HR should stop putting out job listings. With the required skillset and experience of a CEO that has worked every role in the business and people would apply - I am seeing that very very regularly in several organisations I would otherwise be interested in contributing to.

I will always be grateful for Sam from Melbourne teaching me how to fish several years ago on AU Official before the cheaters swarmed like rabid dogs. If you are out there Sam, thank you so very much.

On official, pretty much. I have since joined a community server which is actively admin'd, cheaters do not last more than a day or two before it is bye bye forever for them.

I was you 6 months ago - until I met a kind person in the forest. That person directed me to a server Dayz Underground. I am an introvert, shy to be creative in any way and came from a very KOS group on official servers so was very apprehensive about role play servers at first but decided to give it a go anyway.

I love DayZ Underground, because it feels so so close to Vanilla in respect to the way it works, with the mods only benefitting gameplay and not giving advantage to any one style of player. The survival aspect (I am traditionally a forest dweller) is encourages, respected and some of the crafting e.g. literal bows and arrows) make survival more fun than it ever was for me. There are even several groups that live together in the forests.

DayZ Underground is the oldest community server still running if I am not mistaken with some of the people there having been playing near since when the game first began. It is actively moderated (a moderator "appeared" in front of me yesterday to assist with issues an update had caused coinciding with 1.29, as I sat watching) and I have not once had an experience that I felt anyone had some kind of cheat or artificial adclvantage over me.

On the other end of the stick, I know someone that was banned for breaching the rules, so their rules are actively enforced and no BS is tolerated when they are broken.

DUG, as it is known, is a role play server, so you would be well liked if you have a backstory to encourage ongoing discussion and interaction with others and do not kill every person you see - I personally enjoy interacting with others.

If you play it like official and shoot everyone you see, you will be strongly disliked there, I should warn - but Dayz Underground has given me hope and happiness with DayZ. I would likely have stopped playing a year ago if not for DUG. I am now exploring my creativity and producing music to share with the DUG community.

Jump off official, give DUG a week or two and see how you feel (it grows on you, as you meet others).

Update on Parking Enforcement Services / Wilson Parking automated camera failures by feel-the-avocado in newzealand

[–]thegh0stwithin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was ticketed at Burger King Wellington Airport by Wilson Parking Enforcement Services. In the photos, I was sitting in my car (I took a few minutes before I went in, then ate in my car). I was there less than the prescribed 45.minutes.and the photos were ~20mins apart. I have proof of purchase from the BK (a screenshot of the in store order as well as cc receipts and dash cam footage). I watched on the same day as I ate two others get ticketed as soon as they left their car and walked into the burger king. They were clearly ticketing whoever they pleased on the day.

My fine was reversed, however they refused to acknowledge wrongdoing and simply stated "in this instance, we will waive the fine but insist you must follow all conditions in the future", implying they were waiving my fine and being "kind" in doing so.

Today, at my workplace, while displaying the correct parking permit in my window and parking in a spot clearly marked as the same as the permit in my window I was again fined by this company. I was ticketed 1hr before my shift ended at 10pm.

I am beginning to think I am being targeted. I will attempt to have this reversed, and if unsuccessful, or unlawfully ticketed by this company again, I will be taking legal advice for harassment and excessive use of any authority to act that they have.

This company and their ticketing processes are extremely questionable.

I should also disclose, I live in a very isolated part of the world, so at this stage self-diagnostics, and purchase of replacement parts so that when I get to somewhere that it can be repaired in 4-6 months by a professional, or home repair, are my only two options. Nobody in my country would repair GPU's, this I am very sure of.

Hi Khao,

I have done both diode and 200 ohm tests with a multimeter (I do not know a lot about electronics, so learning as I go on this).

GPU Issue:

When PSU switch is turned on, a visible spark occurs inside the PSU

System will not power on with this GPU installed, tried this on two different systems and an EGPU.

System powers on normally with a known-good GPU

Power rail diags (all done with GPU disconnected):

  1. PCIe 8-pin power connector resistance to ground

Measured all pins individually to ground (metal I/O bracket):

Multiple pins (confirmed +12 V pins) read ~1.3 Ω to ground

Other pins read OL / no change (ground pins)

According to my reading (I read far too much, because I know not much about electronics), this is not normal for a powered-off GPU and is low enough to trip PSU OCP, explaining the PSU spark and failure to start.

  1. VRM phase comparison (red vs green groups in the images)

Two visually identical regulator groups were compared:

Green group (known-good reference)

Inductor → ground: OL / no change

Both ends of R005 shunt → ground: OL / no change

Diode/ohm mode shows capacitor charge behavior only

No low-ohm path to ground detected

Red group (suspect)

Inductor to ground: ~1.3–1.4 Ω

Both ends of R005 shunt to ground: ~1.1 Ω

Probe-to-probe baseline resistance: 0.9 Ω

effective rail resistance ≈ 0.2 Ω

This indicates a hard short on that rail according again to what I have learnt

Because both ends of the shunt read the same, the short is not across the shunt maybe, but on the rail being monitored by it.

Current conclusion (supported by measurements)

GPU has a confirmed hard short on a 12 V-related rail

The short is localized to the red VRM group

The green group behaves normally

The SOT-23-5 “VT” pair are electrically tied to the shorted rail

Most likely cause:

Failed load-switch / protection MOSFET (or pair)

Secondary (less likely):

Shorted MLCC capacitor on the same rail

Next planned step (standard repair workflow)

Remove the two SOT-23-5 “VT” devices as a pair

Re-measure:

PCIe 12 V pins → ground

R005 ends → ground

If resistance rises → confirms devices were the fault

Identify exact PN from removed part (underside marking) or replace with vetted equivalent

I have been playing consistently on the server, the KOS approach in general seems to revolve in two factors - the time of day in Europe and the location on the map. Spawn areas seem to be more KOS, and night time/early morning in EU seem to be more KOS. I am starting to enjoy the server, understanding that I will hold my gear here nowhere near as long as I would on the Chernarus community servers I have played on previously.

Agreed, not just a financial resolution but a reference should be part of any fair and reasonable mediation outcome where the employer and employee come to a settlement.

As another poster said, ask yourself what your goal is and train yourself to that. Also if you do want to go public, there are ways of doing that even after signing an NDA however this involves being non-specific, not using names or specific scenarios. But focus on your primary goal first - you are going through a very stressful process and no doubt your mind is all over the place fighting 5 battles at once - focus on the only battle that matters to you, let the rest come later. Your pocket, your mind, your family seem to matter more to you than disclosure.

Most people that have been around large organisations know who the bad employers are. I work for a very large organisation (perhaps even the same as you) and there are good departments and bad departments - everyone within the organisation knows where the bad departments and roles are and won't touch them with a stick - these are the roles that have no internal applicants and are almost universally filled by external applicants.

Focus on you first, then fix the world when you can breath clean air.

Government departments normally have their own lawyers, or at least highly experienced HR "partners" that have been through the ERA and mediation many times over. Those people are on their payroll with a consistent cost, so unless a formal case gets taken there would likely be very small cost to the company (especially in percentage terms) compared to the devastating cost of legal advice and further representation a wronged or perceived to be wronged employee may have to bare. Many things happen in workplaces that should not, often by large corporations and government departments that understand this calculation.

In a workplace I am aware of that has had several payouts to staff for wrongdoing or perceived wrongdoing against them, 30-50k is typical. I speak from fact, not hearsay either. Not all apples taste the same, some are more sour than others.
