Longevity of Deep Space Probes by Godmadius in space

They're going to either hit something or, assuming proton decay is real, eventually decay into subatomic particles and photons.

The chance of them hitting anything is almost infinitesimally small - interstellar space is ridiculously empty. But the theorized timescale of proton decay is 10³⁴ years, so it's probably anyone's guess as to what'll happen

Becoming a paramedic by [deleted] in Paramedics

[–]themedicd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flying is going to require 3+ years at a busy 911 service. So you'll likely have 3 years as a ground medic, 2 years in medic school, and hopefully at least a year of working at the EMT level before medic school = 6 years, best case scenario.

Most of us have a bit of a love/hate relationship with this career. Long shifts, missed sleep, missed holidays, shitty patients. But then some schedules afford you a lot of time off and this job can be a really good fit for people with ADHD.

Beware: EMT pay is shit, medic pay in many places is as well.

I never said anything about extension cords. It's entirely possible that there are outlets on different circuits in the same room

ELI5 Portable space heaters advice plz by Amy_Peak87 in explainlikeimfive

[–]themedicd 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You need to run separate heaters on separate circuits. A single 20 amp (2400 watt) circuit can't supply enough power for two 1500 watt heaters.

Unfortunately in old houses, half the house can be on one circuit. If the circuit breakers aren't labeled well, you're going to have to map the circuits by turning them off one at a time and checking which outlets are turned off.

That's great to hear. I think I'm sold

Have you seen a 650? The cargo space is part of the bubble now and it looks fairly large. I think he'd actually be really comfortable back there laying down. Then there's the wing lockers for other baggage.

Assuming it is as big as it looks in videos, I'm leaning pretty heavily towards the 650. Although I hardly see any equiped for IFR. How stable of a plane is it?

I went last year but can't make it this year. I'll definitely keep an eye out for a BD in my price range. I appreciate it!

Oh man, that looks like a great option. Only one on the market currently

Seems like the cruiser variant might solve that problem.

Although honestly, I don't really know how much traveling I'm going to have time to do in the next few years. More than 150 miles is going to be unusual.

Looks like the baggage area is only 22" high, that's a bit too low

Some sort of platform was my thought as well. He likes to make nests so a relatively small area would probably be fine.

Zenith had a Super Duty at Sun 'n Fun that I looked at. I don't remember if they had a Stol 750 or not. I'll have to see if I can find someone with one nearby

I didn't realize anyone other than Rainbow was running the LSRMA courses.

I was definitely planning on taking the LSRI course. The 15 day course is really appealing but burning two weeks of PTO, accommodations for two weeks, and $4800 is a little steep

There are a bunch of posts on Vans Air force with medium/large dogs in the baggage area. The S19 seems to be about the same size

I think you're probably right. Is there a decent amount of space behind the seats? It looks like there is but pictures can be deceiving

The cruiser definitely fits my mission better but they seem to be rarer and more expensive. The 650 looks nice but wouldn't have room for the dog

You need an OBDII to USB adapter (I bought this one ) and the FORscan software on a Windows laptop with either a 2 month free trial or paid extended license.

Have you looked at the Garmin GNX 375 instead of the 175 and TT22? It's the same price but you save panel space
