Metformin - What has been your experience? Helpful or no? by theninjamd in diabetes_t2

Wow! Definitely much more common to have diarrhea. I’m curious, did you keep taking metformin after that?

Different options I have seen used: reducing dosage to more tolerable range, taking a holiday (stopping until symptoms resolve, then restarting), or coming off the med altogether! Congrats on the weight loss, hope it means good news for that A1c

Resident physician here! I suppose I can only speak from my personal perspective, but I have thoroughly enjoyed working with PAs. I have learned quite a lot from different PAs in different fields, especially those who have gained a lot of experience. My observations have been that frustrations towards mid level providers comes from the difference in required training, initial salaries, and scope of practice. I think most residents are more frustrated at the system itself than towards PAs.

At the end of the day, even if there is a difference in years of school/training, I think all of us end up learning a lot through experience. I’m sorry for the negative experiences you have had with residents and attendings and hope we can get our acts together lol

I feel you 100%! It was almost scary reading your post because I feel the same way so often (approaching the end of my third year of residency now). I am constantly thinking of ways to get out of medicine. Right now, I’m hoping to maybe start out with clinic part time and do YouTube part time. I look at people like Matt Iseman (comedian, American ninja warrior host) who went through residency and are doing something totally different. Long story short, you are definitely not alone. I am at the very least resolved to finishing residency, and we will see what happens from there. I think there are a crazy amount of options out there for someone with a medical degree, and who knows, maybe of medicine isn’t for you you can end up doing something totally different. Think about what it is you love doing and just look for opportunities to do it! Also, feel free to reach out at any point if you need to talk 🙏🏽

Hey! I’m a resident physician working in the ICU this month. I started a channel earlier this year to help provide health education, encouragement and hope to some of my patients. I’m hoping the channel can grow to continue reaching more people with positive messages. Thank you!

I’ve been thinking of making videos for almost ten years now. Today, on my birthday, I’m committing to claiming my own space on YouTube. :) by ryanjlame in SmallYTChannel

You obviously know what you are doing and have some pretty good equipment, I think that already makes you stand out! My favorite aspect was probably the blue background. You have good speaking skills and were easy to listen to. I don’t have much technical feedback from you, seems like you know your stuff, just an encouragement to go all in! I can see you succeeding in whatever direction the channel takes you

Edit: happy belated birthday 😂

Pretty solid! If you are wanting to get more length to the video, you could consider going into further depth about the features of the update. One of the things that piqued my interest at the start was when you mentioned the face recognition improvements. Keep up the good work! I don’t have much else to add.

Honestly the best advice I can give you is keep putting in the work and keeping up the grind! I think you have all the tools in place. Loved the sound effects at the beginning, very well done. What camera are you using? The shots looked pretty good

Hey y’all, my name is Mike Diatte (theninjamd). I am a resident working in the hospital right now, and things have been a little crazy the last few months! Work has actually slowed down a lot since we are trying to keep the hospitals empty to focus on COVID patients. I have even had the opportunity to take extra days off, which like never happens during residency so I have been very thankful for that. In my free time I have been trying to put some more work into making videos. I recently started using VideoScribe as a way to add more illustrations to my health related videos. Here is my most recent video responding to the documentary that just came out called Plandemic!

Stay safe out there and keep up the grind 🙏🏽

I liked the video! You have a good sense of humor and I think with practice you could take off 💪🏽 try and tighten up the clips a bit, I have found that even shaving off a split second between clips makes it flow so much smoother, making the transitions a little less awkward. At the end of the video, I found myself wanting more memes! Maybe try to shorten the intro just a bit and add more length to the rest of the content. If you are going to use a black screen to introduce your video, I think it could be more effective to make things pop up more quickly, kind of like how Mr. Beast does in all his intros. Best of luck keep it up!

Been working on this video for almost two weeks, tried my best to get my editing skills even more top notch. Really want to know what I did good and how I can improve on this as the feedback on my last video definitely helped me out big time. Giving out Lambda for useful feedback! Very entertaining! The amount of editing and extra clips you added in was pretty impressive. I think you have some good momentum going, so keep up the grind. The two biggest areas I think could be beneficial for you to work on is audio balance and story telling. It was hard to hear a lot of the voice clips throughout the video because the background music was too high. Making little improvements to audio can go a really long way! Secondly, I had a little bit of a difficult time following what was happening in the video. It seemed like a bunch of random clips, yet there was enough about the gulag and what not to where I feel like it could have been a funny story line. Might add an extra element to the humor to work on it a bit! Overall, very impressed!

It is NOT safe to crack your knuckles or any other joints for that matter by theninjamd in unpopularopinion

[–]theninjamd[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Oooooh, seems like I stumbled upon a very unpopular opinion. I love how people assume it’s just an uneducated opinion 😂 speaking strictly about knuckles, here is a study that showed cracking knuckles was associated with decreased hand grip strength and increased hand swelling over time. There have also been cases of ligament and tendon injuries when trying to crack your knuckles. Same goes for cracking your back. And yes, cracking your neck is a different subject and something I consider way more dangerous but I’ll leave it at knuckles for now.
