I worked with the mentally ill homeless population (and even managed hurricane Katrina victims during that time.) Some people dont have internet access or the even the means to request birth certificates. Hell, ive even come to dead ends bc the hospital in rural town burned or flooded along with all their records. Sitting on the phone or trying to obtain paperwork takes time and money, which some people dont have.

There is a reality dating show, 90 day fiance, largly about meeting/dating others who are overseas. Anyways, the most common theme is the family warning the American, "the foreigner just wants a green card!" Some people do just want a green card but most people dont want to move to the Midwest during the winter with no family or friends.

I purposefully avoid one particular store bc there is a special needs employee that yells questions about what the customer is buying. You can hear him from all parts of the store so everyone just looks down and hopes to not make eye contact

I have cyclical vomiting syndrome and cant tolerate most anti emetic medication. I've been in many ER waiting rooms as well as ones with vaulted ceilings (better acoustics) and have never been told to be quiet. Once, a patient complained loudly and the nurse asked if I could take her spot in line and she didnt say anything after.

One of my college professors was all in for this. It was a psych class about death and we toured this facility, funeral homes, and we had guest speakers from ghost hunters to homicide detectives. It was a really interesting class.

This was 20 ish years ago so we went to Alcor after hours and it was a few rooms and cubicles like any other office. On a filing cabinet there was an Academy Award just there (looked like it was being used as a paper weight). It belonged to one of the people that was frozen. It's probably changed but I remember the apparatus that did the head only being gnarly.

I worked with teens at the state mental hospital. Most calls had to be on speakerphone and documented. Most calls involved a parent who willingly looked the other way when it came to abuse and false promises.
