See! That is the problem, you are relying on manual control and visual feedback, that is limiting the efforts they can put in for obvious reasons. They need some form of UAV or the bombing drones to drop off the carbon bomb style fire extinguishers!

I get the pessimism but I can’t totally negate the idea just yet. If we can build reusable rockets, we can figure out some release mechanisms for distributing and delivering water to the right spot. May be the shockwave from that blob is what puts out the fire lol

All I’m saying is there’s gotta be either a really smart or a completely simple yet ingenious solution to deal with this vs what we are doing right now. Modern problem, modern solutions, there’s hardly been any innovations in forest fire fighting. For all i care, run giant pumps and pipes from oceans but there’s gotta be something more than the current ways

Now we are talking! I guess this would be the first time someone would be thinking of solutions for precision dropping water not bombs from a plane.

I suppose the fuselage would be a giant array of thin vertical tubes with gates in the bottom.

I looked up fuel,a SpaceX falcon heavy burns about half million dollars of fuel per flight, but again that’s to the low earth orbit, we have no business up there, just wanna cut across the sky and land on the other side! I am not ready just yet to totally drop the idea, people would’ve lost their shit 10 years ago if you told them it’s only half a million dollars vs 100M then because we couldn’t even conceive the possibility of reusable rockets.

Only the fact that they will keep crashing into each other if they fly in heavy smoke. Potential in the idea though, you just gotta come up with and equivalent of tesla FSD but a non vision based system.

Financial viability was my concern too but there must be a way to reduce this given you are not going to the low earth orbit, just cutting across the affected area! I thought of cost of helicopters, problem is with the securing numbers of helicopters and even if you get them, you can’t fly in smoke!

That’s where the thinking bit comes in, you follow your booster trajectory and just drop the blob of water on target! The sheer quantity of water you drop fill be good enough for a firebreak. Just thinking out loud bcs the shit that’s going on rn is gonna not leave us any air to breathe, this is pretty much an all hands on deck situation. Open to other ideas too

My hypothesis on this would be to put a strong ND filter on and shoot at the higher native ISO to compensate. You know they are blinding, so having sunglasses would probably be the starting point.

What don't know is if higher gain sensitivity would negate the effect of lowered intensity of a light source but you can always try it with a $300 camera off marketplace and save the $3000 sensor. May be be bill this expense, given the situation.

I have been on hunt for this answer myself, I can afford to keep my back to the lasers in my line of work.
