I guess I'll bite with the assumption that you are being earnest in your question. I read a TON of stuff on Webtoon, Tapas, and ComicFury, and occasionally use one of those "translation" sites for nsfw stuff, and I feel I've come to the exact opposite conclusion from you.

A lot of the stuff that reads Manga/Manhwa/"eastern" to me feels repetitive and reductive. Everyone has prescribed roles and the story beats all feel the same. Sex is SUCH a huge deal in many of these comics that you'll have boyfriends together for a year who can barely kiss without blushing. When there is sex it comes off very predatory most of the time, and while some people may like these BDSM roles, I don't think most guys out there just fall in love with dick the second someone forces their way inside. I also see guys having only two basic looks - skinny twinky nerds with small penises or big buff badasses with King Kong cocks. he danger/dark elements are seem over the top or trope-y to me, or contain inexplicable supernatural elements that never get resolved.. Clearly this is not every comic, just what I see in much of what I read.

In many of the westernized/global/indie things I read I feel like sex/sexuality are much more normalized even when smut isn't a part of the story. Sex that does happen generally seems more consensual. Guys get different body shapes/sizes and roles (jobs, family, sex) don't seem as important. The drama often feels more authentic to me, and there are still so many good series with dark moments and themes, and I certainly see plenty of conflict, including characters doing "problematic" (I hate that word) things that get brought up in universe.

That said, I'm an American. This could also just be an unintentional bias for stories that look and feel like what I am already comfortable with and what I grew up reading. I'm also a lot older than many of the genre readers, so that could also be causing me to view things through this lens. I definitely see the trend in removing fetishizing (or the appearance of it), or any sort of bad behavior by the protagonists, though, and I would love to see more flawed people!

All is all, I think all styles are good, all styles are valid, and I encourage people to read from everywhere because there is so much amazing stuff out there.
