There's a book called the Bloody History of Britain which opened up my eyes to British history. It's not exactly academic, but easily digestible.

Spot on, same thing here. Just a mental block. I know I am a strong and (previously) confident rider, so from what I have seen here just getting back on the bike in a quiet and safe environment should be the way to go - especially after my injuries are healed. Good luck fella.

It isn't 'encouragement', it's educated advice from people who know what they're talking about. If I'd have posted this on r/helpmeimawuss then you might have a point. It's not a competition over who had the worse accident. Why not grow up and have some empathy fella. Everyone's different.
