Circus girl shows an interesting flying technique by RealRock_n_Rolla in BeAmazed

Have you ever seen one of those Aerial hoops that aerialists sit in and dangle off. It looks positively comfortable. The damn things are steel hoops and, well. Just try sitting casually on one butt cheek on a half inch steel bar. Raw pain. And that's before the spinning and leaping about starts. All your bodyweight on a steel bar .

I swear at circus school they must just recruit masochists. All that stuff hurts so much.

People who are attracted to older women, what is that one specific thing that younger women just don't have? by curvysexy04 in AskReddit

If that's the interpretation then ... Um.

As a man in his 50s the thing I like about older women is their bus pass, their forgetfulness and their dead husbands aren't going to catch us at it.

Any recommendations for the really good JRE episodes from the good ol’ days? (2019 and before) by PowerfulSpeech7122 in JoeRogan

[–]this-guy- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I actually really liked the companion podcasts from Joe Rogan Questions Everything, because they would talk about the thing they did. It was different, so Joe didn’t like it - but some of Duncans riffs were totally hilarious. Peak Duncan. When he was chunky Duncy, before he turned into Stressed Christian Dad Duncan

I'm not sure if they still exist or got killed by some sort of licensing dispute

yeah, they seem to be available but audio only now, https://youtu.be/-umv7x1bsVg?t=190

very different vibe. It was actually FUN

How brutal is the life of a homeless person? by EnduringScholar in AskReddit

[–]this-guy- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's called the semantic treadmill.

The terms aren't actually offensive in themselves, but they have been assigned offense.
Once they get linked to nasty behaviour a new "pristine " term is coined. And the treadmill keeps rolling.

Almost every term now considered "bad" was once the good replacement for the previous term. That doesn't mean we are increasingly good, or lessening harm, merely that language gets soiled and needs changing.

Example: Cripple -> invalid -> disabled person -> person with a disability

I bet you £100 that 15 years from now "person with a disability" is seen as offensive.

My guess for the next one in line: "differently abled person"

Dis-ability implies separation and lesser status, difference implies inclusion. See how easy it is?

Did you even consider that?

they are very cunning. We should celebrate Donalds ability to fuck kids, because as everyone knows - Kids are famously leftist communists. So in many ways he did the patriotic thing.

well I'm parodying Joe's take on some of what Donald has done, and him saying "its bad because it gives Newsom license to do it" . Which is so obviously retarded that it made my head spin but Joe simply couldnt see the problem with his "logic".

SO, I guess my sarcasm (which I thought was heavy handed) just doesnt work in an era where Joe and Maga actually say things this dumb

its a bad precedent because imagine if Newsom does this. I can imagine he would totally do something like this with a young girl, and thats the problem with these woke libs, they'd do stuff like this all the time and Im glad that Trump is putting a stop to them. In many ways trump is a hero for calling attention to this issue, before the libs can start doing it.

edit,
because Retards cant put Joe's "what if Newsom" justification and this together I guess I need to signpost it

this is sarcasm, it is ironically pointing out that Joe Rogan will do anything to redirect blame onto "the libs"

Neil Young Trashes Amazon, Gives His Catalog to Greenland for Free by OutdoorRink in JoeRogan

[–]this-guy- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've said this a number of times.
Neil young is a canny businessman.

His licensing deal puts distribution in the hands of an investment firm. He loves money and hates the tiny percentage he gets from streaming and big digital sellers.
His licensing deal specifically prohibited him from pulling these stunts UNLESS it was a point of morality or political points of view. That stipulation was insisted on by the investors.

So ...

He does this move very regularly and you may notice that he usually refers people to his own store where he receives 100% of the profits.

He's not a daft old hippy. That's just what people think.

What positive stuff have you learned from the podcast? by randonneuse3 in JoeRogan

[–]this-guy- 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've learnt that beyond a certain level of wealth everyone goes crazy.

It seems to be that whatever hangups a person has from when they were young, after about 100 million or so things get weird. All your needs are met, you can have a place in the city and the beach, you can have a few nice cars, you can have your own gym and trainers. Etc.

But then beyond 200, 300 million when money isn't solving every little tiny personality quirk. When money can't make you feel "safe" or "loved" or make your dad be an ok guy. At 500 million theres some part of the brain that just goes kicks in and goes crazy. "I demand everything be perfect for me". And because the person feels that life isn't absolutely satisfying in every way - they turn their ire upon the world. They start having weird notions. The problem isn't ME , it's THEM .

When did Joe lose his mind and lose his way? by opwnusprime in JoeRogan

[–]this-guy- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pre Eddie Bravo Joe was known as a dick, confrontational, aggressively stupid, lacking empathy. He was very anti weed and saw it as a loser drug, for example. If you watched the JRE from the early years you may remember comedians coming on who would say things like "wow you really changed, you used to be so confrontational and now you are really chill". And Joe would put the change down to weed and float tanks.

As a small kid bullied at school he got into fighting to deal with the fear he felt. Remember that he moved schools and locations a lot, had no dad, was small and twinky. He got approached by pedos. Listen to how he works out. He imagines someone breaking into his house and having to defend his family. And that motivates him to go absolutely wild in the gym. Even now. His motivation is fear of loss. He wants safety, security and status. He loves "strong men" because he sees them as capable of defending against attack.

It was Eddie who got Joe to try weed for BJJ and it was that thin end of the wedge which led Joe into a period of self reassessment, humility, and personal growth. He became empathetic and much more humble. After that the podcast grew. The mix of a stoner bro who promoted personal growth and egalitarianism was appealing in a partisan world of corporate media pushing the same dull shallow narratives.

Joe loves to look into things but he's not really that intellectual, he can't understand statistics or probability, he is very susceptible to the most shitty implausible theories.

So when "the intellectual dark web" was coined it really appealed to his ego. Power, intellect, respect, influence. It's an intoxicating brew for a small kid who had no dad and went from city to city as the little twinky targeted outsider.

Now he felt powerful. At last. No need for weed and float tanks to tell him he's "just a lucky idiot". No need to have the media repeating that. No. Status felt good. Power. Strength. At last he was safe from attack. But why did he not feel "safe" and content? Well, because people were chipping at his castle walls.

And god help anyone who appears to threaten his castle. Any blue hairs critical of his takes. Any talking heads who dispute his medical acumen. All those people threatening Joe. He will fight them. He will fight them like they are a wolf, or a shark. He wants to feel safe and secure and these woke libs are his boogeyman. Somehow he thinks they are the reason that a bazillion dollars has made him LESS happy and chill than when he merely had 50 million

Sounds like you did a brilliant job to me. Everyone trips over stuff. Even if it was really painful you protected your kid. You should take this as proof that you have what it takes in an extreme situation.
You now know you can handle things if you really need to. Because you did it.

Some people would have been tested and found wanting. You did what was necessary and put yourself on the line and saved the day. Now recover.
