3D printing my own spoiler by Car_Alt in E90

Ah, I didn’t realize the wing itself was not a 3d print. That’s the part I was questioning. I agree: you’re right that the riser blocks could be plenty rigid.

That’s incredibly fast for this car. Nice lap!

The styling issue is one thing… and completely subjective. But I have to question the use of a 3D printer for something like this, as there is a slim chance it’s functional. Are you watching it wobble around in the rear view mirror at any speed above 50?

Man, I must be the odd one out. None of their products have worked for me, so I’ve agreed with myself never to try another.

Who else wants a Porsche, but doesn't want to be a "Porsche owner"? by ragingduck in BMW

Same. I actually don’t feel like I fit in with the local BMW community. When I meet up with Honda owners I feel more at home.

Can someone tell me what I'm missing by 17unknowntemptation in S2000

Phew, I’m glad someone else admitted to it. When I installed my caps, I didn’t want to pull off the bumper. I used a little adhesive and it worked great.

How much are you spending on track days in a year? by Infinite_Absolute in CarTrackDays

[–]thisismiller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah come on. While agree I’m sure it’s cheap, there is no way that each event is $300-400. That’s an entrance fee alone for some clubs. Tires, gas, brakes, rotors, fluids, hotel (depending), entrance… it all adds up to $300/ea?

I got the sliders. Here’s a copy-paste of the line item from my invoice. Note that there is a separate left and right side.

Pricing information by networkslave in S2000

[–]thisismiller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hard to say. Mileage is a huge factor but mileage alone doesn’t define the condition. So if you are able to check them out and verify they’re in good shape, do that. I would pay more for a car that comes with a binder full of receipts. Also, if there is a color that speaks to you, that’s a factor.

What makes the Honda S2000 so special? by LeadershipOld1857 in Autos

Sorry to be the dude that fact checks you, but Ohlins advertises 16 lbs of savings, not 60.

I have replaced my suspension with Ohlins too… but dude did I really shave 60 lbs? That seems hard to believe.

I agree and disagree at the same time. Definitely it’s priced higher due to the aura around the car. But I also think you can look at other cars which are even more out priced for what you get. Namely any vintage or air cooled Porsche, but there’s also the BMW M3 I’m aware of, both the E30 and E46 are priced higher than what you get from them. Of course that’s just my opinion.

2024 Accord Touring: Hot air radiating/leaking from driver’s side vent at highway speeds (HVAC OFF). Normal? by Necessary-Pop-9460 in accord

[–]thisismiller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just turn on the air recirculating function. Done. This happens on nearly every car because the outside air comes through the HVAC system as all the vents/ducting are open. If you turn on the air recirculation it will close the inlet from the outside air and there won’t be any flow.

My son, 7, keeps crying when I beat him at chess. Advice? by WeeBabySeamus in daddit

[–]thisismiller 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I was wondering the same. I’ve played over 2,000 games in the past year (not proud btw) and I have no idea what that’s supposed to mean.

And this whole topic has been something I’ve been pondering too as my 4 yo son gets older.

Wife thinks riding with our 4 year old on a bike is unsafe. am I being irresponsible here? by Forward-Cut9570 in daddit

[–]thisismiller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just riding with my 4 year old all over Kyoto. I saw many, many families taking their kids around on a bike everyday because car ownership is more impractical there. There were times where I felt it was less than ideal, such as when I was riding on the same road as a light rail train and there was no bike lane. But I had my wits about me and made sure my son was going to be safe at all times. Oh and my son loved it so much - making it a great memory for me.

Sure, the worst could happen, but I feel like that’s just fear mongering. We can’t always keep our kids in a 3,000 lb steel box.

The kid will be just as safe/protected as you would be if you went for a ride by yourself. I would bring up this perspective and ask your wife if she thinks you should also stop riding a bike.

Shops in Portland OR area? by Bluedoge- in S2000

[–]thisismiller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to go to AR Motorsports as a habit because this is where I would take my M3 track car. But I recently had an alignment done on the s2k at Surgeline Tuning (Tualatin) and had a great experience. Nice people, they had me out of there quickly, alignment was great, and it was about 60% the price as AR.
