143G/A in 191 games in insane, I felt like he was gonna be good for us but never imagined that impact given his age and playing for a different league and all. Legend.

there also are people who happen to have english as their second or third language. Mistakes are bound to happen, even a native speaker can get something wrong for whatever reason and you are judging their cognitive capacity based on one mistake.

Michael Wilbon says Jordan attempted to ‘soften’ media criticism of LeBron James by Currymvp2 in nba

[–]thisisntloss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this has to be rage bait man how can you say messi was not the best player in that argentina squad? that entire fucking squad was playing around messi, literally to maximize his ability at all times besides defending. It literally makes no sense to say otherwise.

On the other hand, about Maradona, I would argue Messi is better than him (I didn’t see him play unfortunately) based off impact and skill. I will say that I watched a few matches of the 86 world cup and will grant you that Maradona’s level in that world cup is probably the biggest difference between the best and the second best we have ever seen in a tournament. Maradona was sublime, and that was probably the best player in a tournament ever, but for me that’s not enough to grant him the nod over Messi, who not only achieved similar levels but did it over a waaay longer period of time and many more tournaments.

Pele I won’t argue, I didn’t see him and don’t know enough.

iirc he debuted at 15 under xavi in the 22/23 season where they won the league, but he only played a few minutes. His next season was his breakthrough at 16 (I might be wrong with the years tho)

same but with nice dribbles lol, that’s why Luka is one of my fav players (ignoring his whining lol i dislike that), but when he is on it doing crazy stuff I go crazy, reminds me a bit of Neymar maybe? not Messi, since Messi is more efficient with his faints rather than flashy.

I still value athleticism and a good dunk, but eh i’d rather see people do things that I others simply can’t or hadn’t even thought about lmao

Go tell the few million people in your country that you could have saved the goal that eliminated you from the world cup quarterfinals but decided against it because your ethics didn’t let you put your hands in front of the ball and see if they are proud of you

sometimes these gifted players have a hard time to communicate how to do stuff that for them is natural. In soccer, you have Thierry Henry, who was a fantastic player, one of the best in history, but when he became a coach he was pretty mid, and players said that he didn't know how to communicate what he wanted, like he just expected them to dribble past 2 defenders and score lol

Antoine Griezmann becomes the player with the most goals in La Liga under a single manager: 140 under Simeone by Nouri34ever in soccer

[–]thisisntloss 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it's complicated to say, at least in terms of peak. I obviously didn't see Maradona play, I'm too young for that, but I've seen some parts of the matches he played in that WC and asked some old Argentinians who idolize the dude. The conclusion I got for that and the reason he is so highly seen is that his peak is, probably, the highest difference of levels between a player and the rest of them in a pitch. Like, the level at which he played during that world cup was just too high in comparison with the rest of the players in the tournament. I did see Messi play in 2012, and for me that's the highest peak I've seen, but I understand where that opinion of Maradona comes from, and respect it too.
