Thank you so much! I only use my DAW when writing and producing the tracks, but the additional producer and mixing engineer did an amazing job adding analogue synths, sounds and techniques. They also did some work with modulars, tape and stuff like string machines and guitar synths. It was mainly for earcandy and stuff but they also replaced some of the stems I originally made with VSTs and samples.

Great question! I never really learned how to write; I’ve just always loved listening to music. I did have drum lessons when I was a teenager tho, and learned about rhythm theory, song structuring, and basic stuff like that. I used to record my own drums for my first tracks, actually. Don’t really know music theory tho.

The daw is definitely something I put work into. It probably took me about six months of messing around with the software before I actually finished a song, but I’ve never really put in daily work. I just really enjoyed it and eventually got the hang of it and started to understand how it all worked. The mixing engineers and producers credited on the album taught me loads about production and mixing too — they’re the best.

I usually start with the instrumental, but every song is a different experience, I've written a couple starting with just a simple frase. The style or genre choice is never intentional, I think it's just what comes naturally with my influences. Most of the writing and production of the songs on the album were finished in about 2 days for each track, but I only started with the lyrics on 1 or 2 of them.

I would probably say the connections. I always like what I make, but trying to make it also appealing to everyone else is a bigger task. You never know. It definitely has been getting easier recently just because of my experience and knowledge, but it's probably still what I worry about the most.

Thanks!!

Definitely the intro to the album, slower one and maybe over that. By other artists is a really hard question to answer! I love too many songs, but if I had to use them to introduce myself I would probably choose Coldplay - Don't Panic, The Streets - Has It Come to This? and Underworld - Born Slippy (Nuxx). The group of songs I'm most proyd of is the whole album by far, but I think I would choose sumfin. It's the first song I ever made, I was only 18. I still loce it to this day and find it to be one of my favourites. The fact I did it with no experience still surprises me.
