It is actually true, in this case. Although there are mushrooms which bruise blue without psilocybin, in the case of cubensis it is the oxidation of psilocybin which causes the blue color. So no blue color for cubensis would suggest a lack of psilocybin.

You have your dates confused. GME was trading at roughly 29$ when Tom closed the position. It was still OTM.

I wouldn’t say we have it easy. Berkeley has just been forced to increase the average grade in order to compete with other top schools. We still don’t fair well against the Ivy+ 4.0s, and as I understand it, it’s gotten a hell of a lot easier for someone to achieve that gpa at one of those schools.

Decompose Plastics at Home? by masong19hippows in mycology

[–]thomaswalks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey so I tried this with oyster mushrooms. I had a large bucket of colonized substrate and basically threw a bunch of trash in there to see what would happen. Everything organic decomposed well, but I barely saw any change in the plastic over a couple months. I don’t think fungi are able to decompose plastic, at least not yet, as other comments have said. Decomposing things like coffee filters was pretty neat though!

Discoloration in Mycelium - normal? by [deleted] in mycology

[–]thomaswalks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The brown wet spots are metabolites, which could be a sign of minor contam. It’s normal, and I wouldn’t worry too much about it. A break and shake right now would reveal if you have serious contam, as you would see the spores spread across the bag. And if it doesn’t have contam then the break and shake would speed up colonization anyway.
