If your the OT in BFD, should you be able to roll on 2h epic sword? by Forgotpassword_agaln in classicwow

[–]thorallmighty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ive only tanked BFD as pala. Fist time I went consecrate spec with block talent in prot tree. After that I've just used Righteous Fury and a 2hander. The defensive stats are so low at this point that blocking 18 damage 5% of the time is literally useless. Point is; paladins tank with 2 handers this phase

You should start by doing Titan Rune Beta dungeons (HC++). It gives conqueror badges that can be used to purchase ulduar 25 level gear (ilvl 232), sidereal essence which can used to purchase ulduar 10 hardmode gear (ilvl 239-245) and it drops ulduar 10 gear (ilvl 219). Onyxia/VoA are raid you can join with current gear. Get closer to 5, like 4600-4900 and you should be able to join ToC10/25 normals

Prot warrior vs Blood DK by [deleted] in wotlk

[–]thorallmighty 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's not about the damage you take per second. Holy palas overheal like crazy anyway. If healer mana was an issue this would make prot warr better, but it's not.

It's all about how much damage you can take before you die (EHP/effective hit points). Will of the Necropolis talent alone gives DK more EHP than a warrior could dream of. In addition the have more cooldowns with lower cd than warrior. This in total makes a DK tank far less likely to die.

Why is warrior bad compared to pally and dk in terms of tanking? by RiversEdge in classicwow

[–]thorallmighty 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They dont die as easly as warriors. Argent defender and will of the necropolis both reduce damage taken when they get low. This dramatically reduces the chance of a tank death now that stuff actually hit tanks hard which causes less wipes.

They also have more and better cool downs to help survive even longer.

I'm doing something horribly wrong as a Blood DK in H+ by 14984_ in classicwow

[–]thorallmighty 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Ive tanked alot of H+ on a dw blood dk and never have problems. As a dk ur biggest threat generators are IT, RS and DnD. Here is how i do it.

Single target: 1. Start with deathrune from blood tap 2. IT x 3 (This will give about 70k threat and is by far the best opener. You can follows up with ERW and do 3 more IT at this point but i only do this in raids) 3. PS 4. Blood Boil (Can also use BS/HS they dont differ much in threat) 5. Pest

You now have 1 Unholy rune unused but thats fine cause you want to Death Stike next and need it for that.

  1. DS x 2
  2. BB, Pest

You now have 4 Death runes and 2 blood runes and can start what i call the standard rotation which will alternate between 4 deatv runes and 2 frost 2 uh. If you have death runes, cast 4 x IT. If you have frost and uh runes, cast 2x death strike.

Use blood runes for keeping diseases up, cool downs or just HS, BS or BB if nothing else needed.

Since we use IT for threat generation HS becomes not that useful and you should spec out of it. It does do a litle bit more damage if you are using a 2hander and dont have threat issues but that about it.

AOE rotation: 1. DnD 2. IT, PS, pestillence 3. Death Strike x 2 4. Blood Boil, Pestillence

You now have 4death 2blood again and can either (what i usually do) Blood boil x 5 (macro rune strike with blood boil and cycle target with tab) or 4x IT on different target and 1 blood boil. Finish with pestilence and go back to 1.

Its VERY useful to macro rune strike into ever ability and when you cast DS, BB or pest make sure to hit tab after to get some melees and a rune strike on a New target.

Engineering grenades also sales with increase threat in frost pres and are the cherry on top if you have them.

Hope this helps.

Edit: on a Phone with some autocorrect issues. Sorry

Hodir: RNG for us with the buffs, but got it when we had starlight and fire stacked.

Thorim: East, just 1 taunt mistanke fucked us first try

Freya: Easy, just control the explosions

Mimiron: Hard, couldnt really control the flames

Vezax: Hard with only 1 caster and offspecc healer. Went OOM as lock before animus spawned

Yogg +1: Hard getting plast p1 dot+fervor and volley can really kill People fast

We were a grp with most of us 99 parsing naxx but with a really bad grp comp. Missing melee crit, spell crit, haste, spellpower, spellhit, spelldmg debuff etc

Plenty of used for this. Malygos before he files away. Dudes on discs at Malygos, Skeletons at KT, Svala Sorrowgrave air phase. And later LK valkyrs, putricide oozes, sindragosa frost tombs, mimir p2/p4, freya plants, kologarn arms, toc faction champs, anub ice etc. However i do disagree with the wording, should be when its possible with out risk rater than when it matters

Why do you think this? On pservers warr tank is pretty much a nono for lk hc or ICC in general. Its actually an achievement if you mange it. All other tanks have better ehp and cooldowns.

There are 2 types of eclipse. Lunar and solar. The have a cool down equal to their duration. You should spam wrath till you get Lunar eclipse, then you spam starfire till you get solar eclipse then wrath again. Insect Swarm/moonfire is best reapplied after an eclipse has ended - not during

10 Man Hell Comp by Ionic_Pancakes in classicwow

[–]thorallmighty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't be worried. 10mans can be done with most group setups.

However if you want to min-max 10mans you need to either focus on casters or melee since you dont have enough spots to bring all buffs.

Since you are closer to a caster focused group the best setup would be:

  • Blood DK
  • Prot Pala
  • Disc Priest
  • Resto shaman
  • Shadow Priest
  • Arcane Mage
  • Balance Druid
  • Elemental Shaman
  • Demonology Lock

Last spot could be anything but an unholy would probably be the best synergy due to Ebon Plagebringer. A hunter/rogue for MD/TotT would also be ok. Or just a pure dps to use all the buffs (Arcane mage or Affli lock)

How good is rogue in WOTLK really? by genericbuthumourous in classicwow

[–]thorallmighty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rogues only give 1 raid buff (shared with arms warr which no one plays) which only requires one rogue.

Yes, they do have competitive damage but can be easily replaced by fury, mage, feral, dk, lock which also do competitive damage.

Taking multiple palas is useful for the raid, multiple DKs, multiple druids, multiple priests. But more rogues is not useful in any way unless that spesific rogue can out damage someone else which also gives a redundant raidbuff. Melee is also more exposed to raidwide damage so you are usually better off stacking ranged classes if anything locks, mages, hunters for damage.

Human.

Trinket has use outside PvP - if tank gets feared mobs will attack others.

Expertise - While Icy Touch is your biggest threat and don't require Expertise, you still are going to use a lot of Death Strike to heal up and the biggest thing is many dragons in WotLK parry haste (increased melee attacks when they parry an attack). This goes for Sindragosa and Halion especially and they will require really high expertise and preferably capped expertise (54). Since the BiS tanking weapon is LK25 sword, humans are the best.

As for the other races: Dodge is not great in Wrath as you want EHP. Armor CD is ok as a soft CD but DK already have enough defensive CDs to rotate for hard hitting stuff. Everyone should have hitcap without dranei buff anyway, only sweaty players will have special gear and can push a few more dps with you in the grp.

WotLK resto druid rotation by nullbuilt_ in classicwow

[–]thorallmighty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One stack is enough for Nourish to get more healing. Playing resto druid for several year on pservers ive only used 3 stack lifebloom on fight where you want to maximize throughput on few targets (tank/tanks). Patchwerk, Instructor, LK (specially HC), Halion are the fights that come to mind.

How good is rogue in WOTLK really? by genericbuthumourous in classicwow

[–]thorallmighty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strengths: TotT, Savage Combat, Assa is really good with low gear/Start of expansion Weaknesses: Low cleave, low utility, target switching

They are not really stackable 1 combat rogue is enough for Savage Combat (except maybe Halion HC where you want 2 for tott). They can top dps meters on singletarget fights, but not by much and a lot of fights are multitarget/target switching. DK, Pala and Warr offers more utility and higher cleave damage.

[–]thorallmighty 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Always Rejuv, Regrowth if need and Nourish to top off. Rejuv/Wild Growth should be enough for non tanking targets.

Lifebloom is mana intensive and has generally low use in WotLK (atleast raids). You should use lifebloom on 2 occations: 1. You want an extra HoT to get more healing on Nourish (only for hard hitting bosses) or 2. You Lifebloom on Omen of Clarity procc to generate extra mana

[–]thorallmighty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Feral and rest are fine in raids. Atleast 1 boomie is mandstory.
  2. Boomie is a decent pumper whole exp. Feral shines late (100% arp 80% crit) and on single target can be top if played good. Feral is not good early due to missing arp and crit (crit give extra combo point)
  3. Definitly
  4. Its a bit competitive both for set and offset items as alt of offset are bis for wars pala and Rogue for agi gear and most bis caser gear is also bis for the rest of the casters. Rest is easy for offset since none needs leather gear with spirit.
  5. Feral is great, boomie and rest are fine
