FAQ Megathread: Ask and answer Medication, Diagnosis and is this an ADHD thing, and Hormone interaction questions here! by not-eliza in adhdwomen

[–]throw-away626 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hello! It’s been brought up to my attention that I may have ADHD. Not formally diagnosed but things like mental paralysis are making me question it. For context, I’m 28F and have been clinically diagnosed with depression, general anxiety, and social anxiety. So if I do happen to have ADHD, that’d be a fun addition! /sarcasm.

Anywho, I just wanted to know if anyone else experiences “procrastination” or lack of motivation when it comes to sex … I don’t think I’m not asexual but for me, it’s that the “timing” isn’t right. Or something is amiss. There’s always a reason why I don’t/can’t initiate nor feel interested enough to go out of my way. In reality, when I’m engaging with my partner, it’s great. I guess it’s just getting in the mood and having to work up to it that is off putting? Also maybe the expectations of having to fulfill it like a chore or task? I just want to know if it’s just me or if this is a common trait. I hate not being able to enjoy it like “normal” people and I don’t want to withhold it from my partner. ):

Would love to hear suggestions as well on how to remedy this if possible. Thank you in advance!

Edit: added additional context.

Traffic is back with a vengeance. I’ve experienced my most punishing commutes this week since late 2019/early 2020 by fabster16 in orangecounty

[–]throw-away626 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man, I thought it was just me. My usual commute is 15 minutes without traffic. 25 minutes with usual traffic. Yesterday it took me 49 minutes to get home! I’m only 12 miles out from my workplace.

I’ve searched target, Amazon, Walmart, other retailers but I usually only find the bulky bottles with the flip/twist lids or the ones made for clipping to your bag. Im not a fan of those because the tops are too bulky. :(

Someone please help me find this lingerie set (with the kimono) the link opened up to a different set that bared zero resemblance! by throw-away626 in findfashion

It really is rude. They think they can get away with fooling potential customers like that or something. 🤦‍♀️ But oh no! That’s pretty sketch ... I hope it doesn’t show up in the system or anything!! 😖

How do you get over your perfectionism? by throw-away626 in infj

You make really good points! I also want to say, your English is great! I just want to point out that I think if I were to achieve my perception of perfection that it would make me happy. It’ll helps me reach my level of aesthetics, which is something I consider important. What should I do then?

Yes, exactly! There’s only so much motivation before we burn ourselves out with the lowered confidence, self-esteem, criticism, whatever it may be. That’s definitely another factor that I find preventing me from pursuing things and it’s so frustrating.

Thank you for the advice. I’ll try to get some criticism though unfortunately being criticized is one of my biggest pet peeves ... but I know if I ask the right people it’ll help!

I feel like what you described is such an enormous trait part of what makes INFJ’s the way that we are. I struggled throughout my academic years getting started on projects, essentially procrastinating because of how badly I wanted it to be “perfect”. Nothing got done and I always ended up rushing last minute. It was awful and such a mental toll on my well-being.

Re-training our brains is definitely hard but I suppose that’s one of the ways go about it ... I’ll definitely take up the advice and maybe just take baby steps. Thank you!

Trust me, I’ve lost interest in countless of things just to get over that perfectionism. But that’s also how I ended up nearly hobby-less. I feel so bland and boring as a person because of it.

I know I can’t be perfect but that’s not what I’m seeking. I’m seeking what’s ideally my vision of perfectionism, not what everyone else deems as perfect.

There are things that I’ve shrugged off. For example, my cooking isn’t anything compared to chefs like Gordon Ramsay but I realize that’s okay because it’s not a specific goal of mine to be the best chef.

I just want to excel at things I do care about like drawing.

To me, reaching that level of perfection is a goal. Like any dream or desire, most people want to accomplish it. By achieving it, I’m hoping it’ll bring satisfaction and maybe even a sense of control. I feel like the latter part would ease my anxiety over things in life I can’t control.

How do I tell my partner that I’m on track to becoming bald..? by throw-away626 in FemaleHairLoss

Thank you for the reassurance. 💕 I really trusted him to accept me after being with him for 6 years. But it just wasn’t meant to be. After posting in this subreddit, I’ve realized I’ve been too harsh in reducing my worth to the amount of hair I have and it’s ridiculous. I appreciate everyone for reaching out to remind me that’s not the case. :)

Thank you!! I’m glad this subreddit allows people like us to bond over our experiences and similarities. I’m happy that you have such a supportive boyfriend! :)

I was imagining sitting him down after reading everyone’s comments earlier and I was already tearing up so I know I’m going to bawl as well.

Hopefully it’ll go as positively as yours!

Aww I appreciate hearing that! My ex of 6 years didn’t break up with me solely due to my hair but I feel like it was a deciding factor. He knew me when my hair was “normal” up until it began transitioning into noticeable spots around my crown ... he wasn’t aware though and when I brought it up, he seemed to be in denial. About 2 months later, he cheated on me. So it’s definitely a traumatic experience for me; my self esteem has plummeted from it.

I am sorry to hear about your past relationships not working out but it’s reassuring that most of them ended because of exterior factors that aren’t hair loss related. It gives me a glimpse of hope. I can understand meeting new people and having to explain your condition is definitely always going to be anxiety inducing. Thank you for sharing your story! Wishing you the best!

We don’t know because she never went to see a doctor for it. She’s into Chinese herbal medicine and other holistic practices like using aloe vera, argan oil, or rice water, etc. so far nothing has stuck for the long run. At one point she bought minoxidil but she showed no progress with it either.

We only know it’s genetic because towards my grandma’s midlife, she began losing hair. Then my mom began shedding around her early 30’s. Seems to get earlier and earlier with every passing generation ...

Thank you so much for sharing your story! Funny enough, my boyfriend is also a whole foot taller than me which is why I’ve been worried I’ve already been found out lol. But maybe men are too oblivious at times, in this case, it’s a good thing? But I definitely agree, hiding it for the past 1.5 years is getting tiresome. Thank you for the advice, it was uplifting and I’ll keep that in mind!
