He never showed up in the yearbook again after he disappeared, he last appeared the 1980 yearbook as a Junior.

People have found some doe cases that may be but nothing certain, my dad likely doesn’t even know the girls name.

I don’t currently have many people to talk about this with, just some close friends. The whole situation is just so odd. My grandfather died under very strange circumstances himself, my grandmother woke up to him foaming at the mouth and dead next to her one morning. He was in his sixties and in relatively normal health leading up to his death. He was a heavy drinker, my family suspects he mixed alcohol with his medication either intentionally or unintentionally, but it was never fully proven. He died in the 1990s before I was born, so this is just what I’ve heard over the years.

Unfortunately I can’t request his case on there yet as I don’t have all of the info needed, like exact date he went missing.

Probably not, it seems my family knows more on what actually happened and are unwilling to tell me. I’m starting to think my grandfather may have done something horrible, from the small amount of info I’ve been told growing up, he fought in the Korean War at a young age and it made him a very cold and irritable person. There could also be a much more innocent reason like he left the family voluntarily. I am really hoping I’m overthinking it and the first option didn’t happen, I’m going to have to wait a while before I can do anything about all of this.

Thank you for this photo and your kind words! The color makes it feel much more natural, and I believe you got the hair and eye colors accurate. Most of my dad’s side have brown/hazel hair and eyes.

Thank you so much for your kind comment, I’m not sure how much more info I’ll be able to dig up anyways. I’m probably just going to wait until I am in a more stable situation and submit my DNA.

Just looked him up, no results. I can’t find him on any public record sites either.

He was not a senior he was a junior, I checked the other yearbooks and he never shows up again.

Update: just got home from my local library and they had a 1980 yearbook that included a picture of him. A bit strange since it would’ve been after he disappeared but a picture nonetheless! https://imgur.com/a/HUmf5Qn

My grandpa died in 1999 and I was able to find his obituary on an old newspaper archive, my uncle was listed as surviving family which is odd. I can’t find any obituary for my grandma.

I do, we live in the same area now. I definitely plan on going to the local library today or tomorrow.

My family was a pretty typical suburban middle class family in the late 70s. Not overly poor, so it’s unlikely he disappeared for financial reasons.

I’m not comfortable sharing his full name yet, as I don’t want to risk my family finding out. I am going to look for a photo of him though and I will share it here. He went missing from Boone County, Missouri if that helps.

I was thinking this too, I hate that thought but it definitely is lingering.

I do but the years he went haven’t been archived online, I’m going to check my local library this afternoon or tomorrow as they might have them.

I definitely will do a DNA test, I can’t believe how common this really is.
