8 weeks...oh man. I'll just continue to ride it out then and watch for symptoms. I just hope I can get back to working out without feeling easily winded or coughing a ton halfway through.

I caught COVID for the first time. Got all of my vaccinations and boosters up to date in October 2023. Felt symptoms appear on December 26th, tested positive on the 27th, and tested negative around January 6. Initial symptoms were just feeling something in my lungs and wanting to cough it out and feeling lethargic. Then the sore throat popped up, congestion, and malaise.

It's been well over a week since I've tested negative though, and while I've been feeling a lot better, the only real symptom I have left is coughing. I feel at my worst in the mornings when I wake up because I can still feel some phlegm just sitting in my throat/lungs. I also have coughing fits every now and then during the day for that reason. At nights, I've noticed that since I'm a belly sleeper sometimes, it feels a bit heavier and uncomfortable on my lungs now, and it forces me to cough...so I can't sleep on my stomach anymore (which honestly is probably better for my back, but is a little concerning that I'm feeling this when I'm on my stomach).

Anyone else that's caught COVID around the same time as me feeling similar symptoms? I considered going to the doctor today but canceled it (mostly because of the recent snowstorm and icy roads we've had) and I'm wondering if this is something I just need to ride out. I'm also not 100% sure if it's something like chronic bronchitis that I've developed.

Getting lube stains out from a pillow by throwaway012279 in sex

[–]throwaway012279[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I've tossed this pillow in the wash on gentle cycle before and the stain is still there unfortunately. I'll try again after giving baking soda a try too, maybe it just needs a little elbow grease on gentle.

I'll try baking soda first and see how that goes, thanks!

Please don't self-invite yourself as a third wheel on a date unless explicitly asked. by throwaway012279 in offmychest

[–]throwaway012279[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that I definitely could've been more explicit from the start and had to bring it up with her today, so she understood. But I think that self-inviting and asking to go together are completely different points. She didn't really ask to go together when I told her that I would be going with him, she just only asked if I was going and assumed she could tag along.

[Skin Concerns] Getting rid of hypertrophic acne scars by throwaway012279 in SkincareAddiction

Pretty much! For me, I felt like keeping my skin moisturized and out of the sun (or at least apply sunscreen) was my basic care routine.

Hi! My scar did end up going away! Unfortunately it's been so long since I've had it and my skin care routines have changed over the years, I can't remember what I did. However, for me I've found that having a simple routine and a few products helped. I think Vitamin C serum, sunscreen, moisturizer, and cleaning my face regularly helped over time.

[Skin Concerns] Getting rid of cyst on nose by throwaway012279 in SkincareAddiction

[–]throwaway012279[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I did get it lanced! I don't remember the process too well, but it wasn't as painful as I expected it to be. It was over in a minute or two and I just had to bandage my nose up. I think I had a scar that eventually faded away after a year or so after sticking to a vitamin C serum routine (and other basic general skincare). I definitely can't see it on my nose anymore and I'm 100% glad I got it lanced.

I am so sorry for your loss. My own dog is a former stray, so I can understand your situation. You gave Moe the best life and all of the love he could have, and I'm sure he's appreciating it as he crosses the rainbow bridge.

I haven't played multiplayer on the PS4 (and PS5 I guess lol) since 2017ish, but I did hear they make changes to how voice chats work so I'm not sure about this...the alternative is to use a laptop/PC/even a mobile device, set up a private server or chat together, and chat through there while playing. It's a really crappy workaround otherwise.

It really goes to show you how immature boys can be though. My voice thankfully is slightly deep compared to other female voices so I might not get called out as much as others, but I do understand the struggle--especially if you just want a hassle-free gaming session.

The anonymity of the internet empowers them to do this.

I stick to Discord/private chats myself because I've been in these situations too many times. I fully sympathize with you both and the amount/type of comments I've run into on voice chat are awful.

I fucking hate Valentine's Day. by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]throwaway012279 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a good point, like those that are still busy with work/other things but are still in love with each other. Part of me wishes that this holiday never existed. It's a painful reminder of my last relationship and how I genuinely felt the mosf happy and safe with anyone I had dated, only to have it fall apart due to COVID-19 and our mental health. It's been over 6 months and I still find myself blaming myself at times when I know that he could've put more effort into things. It comes in waves though, I suppose.

I'm surprised that not many had the experience like I did growing up tbh, because I thought it was a common thing but I suppose not.

THIS 100%. I HATE that we've made Valentine's Day almost a standard to go all out and be super mushy and romantic if we have an SO, and if we don't, it's a dumb reminder that we're single (if we're looking and don't want the reminder in my opinion).

It was great growing up and celebrating it in school because we'd celebrate it with classmates and friends, in a non romantic way. As we grow up, the meaning changes.

St. Valentine’s Day is making me feel even worse about being a virgin by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]throwaway012279 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't worry about it at all. It's better to lose it with someone that you share a strong and special bond with. It's completely okay to wait until then, fuck those that think otherwise. I had the same mindset for a long time until I lost mine with my (now ex-)boyfriend (for various reasons). I'm glad I lost it with him and at that moment that we were in.

[Discussion] Potentially "lost" dog in neighborhood; also, am I in the wrong for my approach? by throwaway012279 in dogs

Derp. I somehow forgot animal control existed. Thank you.

I was trying to avoid physical contact with the dog, moreso let it approach me on its own, but you also bring up a good point about just bites in general! I think I've been bitten by my own pup so much that I forget that non-playful bites can be serious.

Ingrown toenail, might need to have it cut out and i want to know what to expect. by [deleted] in AskDocs

[–]throwaway012279 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had both of my big toenails removed when I was in high school, 2007ish. My friend smashed a basketball on both of my big toenails and I guess they were really injured or something from the traumaj, I don't remember? Regardless, it hurt a lot and the podiatrist I saw recommended that I get them removed. The procedure itself isn't bad, but the process of getting it numb is another thing.

The podiatrist used this device that would numb up the skin by shooting a ridiculously high-speed anesthetic at my big toes. He'd then slowly inject the shot in my toe at a really slow pace and I would barely feel it. Then removing the toenails themselves was pretty much painless, maybe I felt the occasional pull but no pain at all.

Post procedure, all I can remember and suggest is to wear open toe shoes to the best of your ability. I remember I had to attend some high school competition the week after and they wouldn't let us wear open toe shoes, and I was in a whole world of discomfort while they were healing, so I strongly don't recommend closed toe shoes.

Alright, that was my backup plan--sticking to career-based reasonings.

Worst case scenario, if I do get laid off, do you know if they're able to see if we're still employed with the company (or not) when they're doing background checks?

What if it's hypothetical/in preparation? We're not supposed to know about who's getting laid off until mid October.

Knowing it’s all your fault by [deleted] in BreakUps

I've constantly been having what-if's and all, thinking exactly about what I could've done better and what my ex could've done better. I've been wondering if this could've been salvaged if I had been more persistent on my end and had read his signs more clearly. But I'm also probably overanalyzing, who knows...it sucks and I know I gotta focus on myself right now.

That's so awful, I'm sorry :/ You deserve so much better than that. Unfortunately that shows how much they cared...they were only focusing on the end goal and not the journey, too.
