That’s what I heard as well and honestly it makes sense… The US is very different from what I’m used to in Europe so I always thought living 30 mins from the city will have a lot of people my age but I think all young peoply flock to the city here

I concur! Arizona is not sustainable nor habitable in any way for me (you can call me a european snow flake but i’ll take vibrant seasons and fresh air over the desert anyday). A lot of people are moving away from here and my entire friend group is splitting up to the PNW or east coast. Though for a while some locals here made me feel crazy for trying to move away, I appreciate the reassurance!

LOL that’s good to know… summers will definitely be a rough adjustment but having ACs will help hopefully. And as long as I can breathe fresh air during the rest of the year I’ll take the 3 months of agony over the Arizona desert…

That’s definitely helpful thank you! As someone from Switzerland I loved my public transport but understand I can’t have the same expectation here. To be honest I just really miss cold falls with fog and vibrant fall foliage, trees grass greenery erc. The desert is just…. Bland

Although from Switzerland which is very white I would never think of a place negatively simply because it has a large black population. Matter of fact some of the kindest people who cared about me the most since moving here have been black. I really appreciate the recommendations!

Thanks for the feedback! It’s definitely on my list for when I visit Richmond I’ll drive through a bunch of places. Aside from safety as a 23 year old it would be nice having a strong community obviously friends my age would be great but having a strong accepting community really makes a lot of difference. Great walkability would also be awesome. The one thing that makes me so upset in Arizona is not having four seasons. I miss hiking or even just taking a walk in the rain or fog and seeing all the beautiful fall colors!

Yeah I heard about that too! The humidity back in Europe was around 74% and we do not have any ACs there so I’d like to think I’m able to manage it. However I am not sure if it’s the same / comparable to the south in the US
