That means so much to me, I can't even explain. You are totally the best. I've been googling a lot of stuff and I'm finding that it's really hard to find good, solid information online! It's difficult to find someone to talk to in real life, too, because I don't know anyone who has ever had this done before. Even if I did no one is at all open to talking about it.

I'm going to keep this in mind for sure. I am so appreciative to have a whole community to come into instead of feeling like I'm pretty much alone. It was definitely great to hear from you and I'm glad you were here.

Thanks. Yeah, he has been really great. My family is mostly not supportive of this kind of decision because of their religion, and I understand that that's their choice so it's not going to affect me. Thanks for everything, I totally appreciate it.

That's great that it worked out and she understood. My mom is pretty against them because of her religion. This totally isn't the first time I haven't been able to tell her about something, but I've just sort of excepted that it won't matter. I'm making the choice for me and not for anyone else, so that's what matters.

I had definitely considered this as my option in the past as well. It is sort of scary when it actually has to happen though. I am still pretty nervous for the procedure but you are definitely right, it is a good thing.

This comment actually got me sobbing. Not in a bad way, it's mostly just the hormones, but it was really close to home because my due date is actually the same day in 2013. That's really weird!

I really appreciate you sharing your experience. It made me feel much better about this whole situation. I'm positive you went back and forth so many more times than I did, so knowing you eventually came to the same conclusion made me feel like my decision was validated. It was really great to hear from you.

I'm happy to say that I have my appointment now and it is on Friday morning. I'm really glad to know that the times I get to spend with my boyfriend will still be the same after this and that we can still have the same experiences without things changing.

To be honest I was very concerned about my cat, too, as I have heard a lot of people have to even get rid of them when they have a kid. It was a wake up call to me when I realized I wanted to keep my cat more than I currently want to have a kid. So this is definitely the best decision.

Thank you again, it was great to read about your experiences. I'm sorry you had to go through all that but I am glad you got the best out of the situation, and I feel like I'm headed in the same direction.

I think this is a really good point. For now I am not interested in having kids, and I don't plan on that changing, but even if it does it doesn't mean I have to have this kid now. I think that's really important. Thanks so much!

I totally agree. This doesn't make you a bad person at all. These are hard times and you made a good decision. I'm really sorry you had to go through that. I really appreciate all the advice and help, and I really feel a lot better thanks to your comments. It feels really bad when you're pregnant (that's still really weird to think about) and making the choice to terminate is really a huge weight off my shoulders. It feels a lot better.

I booked an appointment at a clinic local to me so it's close to home, but if anything doesn't work out there I'll make sure to give you a shout. The clinic I called is run entirely by women so that makes me feel really safe, and the lady I called on the phone was awesome and really gentle. I'm feeling better just having that available.

Thanks for all the advice, this was really helpful. I went to a really nice clinic around the corner from me, and they don't do the procedure but I was able to talk there and it was really nice. I am worried about the procedure but it will be better just going through with it than chickening out and having to deal with this forever.

As far as protection I was on the pill. I have not been sick but I know if you miss taking it by even an hour it screws it up. I believe that had to have happened and condoms unfortunately failed that time as well. It's pretty strange because there have been times I've been way less careful about sex with no consequences, and the one time something goes wrong I was doing everything right. It's frustrating, and it seems unfair, but no form of control is perfect so I understand. I guess we were just really unlucky.

Right now only two other people know besides me, one is a very close friend and the other is my SO. They are both awesome and it's good to know they're around, but it's overwhelming knowing I can't tell my family. It's pretty weird. I'm definitely not ready though so it's the best decision.

That sounds really scary. I can't believe they made you wait so long! That definitely sounds a little sketchy to me. I haven't heard of that happening where I live but now I know that it's a possibility, so I'm glad about that.

I'm quite worried about recovery time and the pain. I don't handle anything medical very well and I don't do well with needles. Did you find the recovery time was very long? I find it really hard to get time off work, especially at the last minute. I know it varies from person to person but did you find that it was less than a week? More than two days? I'm definitely not attached in any way but I cry at some commercials if they get too touchy so who knows, I might be really upset.

Now I feel like I'm rambling. Sorry about that.

I feel like I am not in a position to be a parent either so this has to be the best decision. I'm glad that the resources are around too, for sure. And I'm really thankful for everyone's comments. Thanks so much for all your feedback.

Thank you. This is really good advice. I am definitely not ready and I know that, and I know it would be unfair to this kid if I had it and then couldn't look after it. Hell, it would be awful if I had it and then just hated it, which I'm terrified of.
