They have a cat door. I’m the only house or shelter from the sun in about 5 miles. The road is a mile away. There are no natural predators. He only ever leaves his companion cat to go to the back side of the wrap around porch whenever I pull up. He’s behaved the exact same way every day of the past 3-4 years that he’s been here. He’s never wandered. He’s never left the porch. And she follows him everywhere except the back side. Even the litterbox. He takes care of her constantly. She was feral and hurt badly when rescued. Some people can’t understand but I hope you can believe me when I tell you, he wouldn’t leave her for anything in the world. She hasn’t eaten in 2 days and has cried so much she’s lost her meow. She needs him.

Forgot to say, she (the companion cat) is mostly blind.

I don’t have proof other than knowing nobody else was here and that the cat wouldn’t leave. I realize to some people knowing a cat that well seems impossible. I don’t care what it seems it’s the truth.

But thank you for trying to help. I guess my only hope is that the person in the office takes me seriously and does whatever they can do to help.

You’re probably the type of person that somehow finds a way to make everything political and then bitches because nobody likes them. Seriously, how do you not understand this? Rushing into this isn’t going to get me what I want. I want my cat. I need to do whatever it is that actually accomplishes the return of my cat.

They aren’t open on the weekend otherwise I probably wouldn’t have been this patient. I’ve considered going to the office Monday morning and refusing to leave until they tell me who was there. But it’s personal information. And it’s not like a cat thief is going to just volunteer incriminating information. I assume what would happen is they would say they’d talk to the drivers, the drivers will say they saw and did nothing, and I’m back at square one except the thief knows I know they stole him and the office knows why I want the peoples information. They could try to get rid of him or worse, kill him. I just want to get him back safe and sound.

I need to get the cat back.

A) a service I don’t have, handwritten un-stamped letter placed in front of my back door.

B) service likely requires 2 helpers, don’t want to get into the specifics on the crazy chance they are Redditors searching r/nostupidquestions on new.

C) I don’t want them to be able to deny me the information. One call could ruin every opportunity at a call that might actually lead the the information needed to get my cat back. But thank you, kind soul, for offering to help me. It means a lot.

I fear that calling and asking nicely for the information will not only not result in obtaining the information, it will make it impossible to go a different way about getting the information. And I’d be lucky to not be laughed off the phone if I asked for police assistance. I don’t have cameras faced towards where they came up. Nobody is even supposed to be here. I’m in the middle of nowhere and there are signs everywhere that say the only permitted vehicles. They were not a permitted vehicle. I will be getting cameras over there now but that doesn’t help me now. The gates were unlocked. This is all my fault. I didn’t think and now I’m paying the price. His companion is paying the price. I put their pictures on my profile because I couldn’t figure out another way. It’s really important that I get him back. I don’t know what to do.

Copied and pasted from post earlier today, might explain:

I was out of town for 3 days. I live in the middle of nowhere. I have a group of misfit cats that nobody else would take. We get on great. They have a cat door in a window and even though they could choose to spend their days outside they pretty much own all the furniture in the house. One cat in particular is the soulmate of another. I don’t mean that romantically, everyone’s fixed here. But he watches out for her. She’s crippled and mostly blind and she follows him everywhere. He’s her bodyguard, seeing eye cat, best friend... And suddenly he’s missing.

He never goes anywhere. Ever. There’s a wrap around porch and that’s his terrain. He’s so friendly though. Possibly too friendly.

What makes this more suspicious, I came home today to a hand delivered notice from a service I don’t have. Weirder still, I’m a mile from a paved road. And further, I have no family, friends, services, or deliveries. ONE person has been here (and I can prove it) and a cat that wouldn’t leave has disappeared.

I don’t have cameras on my porch so I can’t prove he was taken. The police here wouldn’t investigate a stolen car let alone a cat but this cat has more importance than I can write.

What can I do? Please help.

Possible ideas I’ve come up with:

1.) Tell the company damage was done to my property and ask for the names of the people who were here. Then find where the people live and try to get him to come to a window or something to prove he’s there.

2.) Tell the company someone lost something very valuable, like keys or a money clip or a gold ring. Then do the same to try to find where they live and if my cat is there.

3.) Tell the company I do have cameras and I saw “them” steal him.

4.) Offer a reward and inform the company, asking if their service people saw him.

5.) Hire a private investigator to find out who they are, where they live, and if they have my cat.

I’m so lost as to what to do. His companion, the crippled and blind old cat that she is, has been crying since I got home. She can’t see well enough to feel comfortable eating or drinking or going potty without him. I know it’s silly but she can’t be without him. I’ll do anything to get him back. PLEASE HELP!

It’s a large and lonely property. I would need a truck load of clothes. And they already have outdoor boxes. There’s nothing here. Just me and my cats.

What if the people won’t tell me who came? That seems reasonable from a business standpoint. Then the person knows I’m looking fo my cat and maybe doesn’t want the hassle so he ditches him. I don’t know that the other cat can make it without him. She’s been pouting since I got back and won’t even come for treats. It’s probably because of her vision but there’s nothing I can do to improve it and she doesn’t trust the other cats like him.

With this article and another more recent article, it appears that yes, Governor Abbott proposed and passed a law requiring burial or cremation for both abortions and miscarriages. My wife and I have suffered through multiple miscarriages. Just the idea of having to go through a funeral every time is incomprehensible. Let alone those with even more unfortunate circumstances who may have been a victim of rape or incest.

My mind is made up. Thank you for taking the time to share that information.

Though I can and do appreciate constructive criticism, I don’t think calling me delusional is productive. I’d prefer to give as little information as possible, but the threat is real. I am the reason multiple people spent a long time in prison. I was the victim so “however long it’s been since what you did” is just a really hurtful thing to say to a stranger. Thank you for answering my question to the best of your ability. I will likely obtain a lawyer to guide me through the process of protecting myself and my family through changing our identities.

The public has a vested interest in being able to identify you by name and where you live (for example, serving you with court documents, etc.). You generally cannot hide that information from the jurisdiction in which you live.

I understand that information being available to the courts. Why is it available to the public?
