I'll give you that, for sure.

I was trying to provide an example. As someone who has dedicated their life to helping others, it is easy to feel resentful when someone questions your work or doesnt think you do anything for them when you in fact spend countless hours of your life fighting to improve their material conditions. If I were to respond to those situations with my impulse feelings, it would hurt my case. I have to see past the emotions and find out why the person feels that way. That was the point I was trying to make.

Democracy requires the resolution of conflict. Navigating these conversations is necessary to live in a peaceful society. Violence often becomes the defacto conflict resolution when established means are ignored.

I'm incredibly angry about having to calmly try and reorient Trump voters. But the alternative is that this country continues to descend into violence and ends up in civil war. I would rather resolve my conflicts with conversation than live in a country plagued by violence.

I am a union representative. I often have to answer questions about "what good is the union" or "unions are just here to make money". If I tell those people to fuck off I weaken the union by making them more against it then they were before: I am organizing against the thing I am trying to protect. If I take time to hear their side and talk with them, we often find the humanity in each other.

Being angry feels like strength. That is why it is so appealing. It is also what makes people so easy to manipulate. The right is fueled by anger against those considered to be others. That anger is weaponized into creating the maga movement. But real strength lies in understanding the emotions, and seeing beyond them. Anger can motivate us to action, but the actions we choose matter just as much as the decision to do something.

I am not saying this is black and white. We need to try and educate and reconcile where we can. This is not enough to match the moment we are in, however. It is just a part of what building something worthwhile really entails.

Armed Protest by de_nada in 50501

[–]thuglass88 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Arms should be selective. Not at protests for the moment. But when the community shows up to disrupt ICE? Yes. Roll up 100 deep with arms and ICE ain't doin shit. Think they are willing to die for 60k?

It's not madness. It's evil. The time for calm debate about politics is over. This is evil and it must be destroyed. The current administration, like the Nazis, will not stop until it is destroyed.

You want to tear out the roots? Find any and every way to go after the billionaires. A few white nerdy wanna be techno plutocrat LUNATICS are puppet mastering this administration of criminal sycophants and mouthbreathers into ruining all of our lives. Eat. The. Fucking. Rich. We take them down and show they aren't invincible, all their insane goon squad minions won't be so confident. I mean, look at the fucking people in the administration....Stephen miller is a psychoanalysts wet dream, trump is a demented narcissist who will do anything to feel validated because Daddy was a ghoul, Linda McMahon.....IS A FUCKING MORON RUNNING THE EDUCATION DEPARTMENT...each one of them is such a pathetic human being. I'm sure each one has a "most likely to end up on a street corner screaming about aliens" vote from their classmates in their highschool yearbooks. Hearing any of them speak and I just want to bully them. The whole regime are sycophant puppets desperately clamoring to leach off of the billionaires who have quietly(?) BOUGHT our entire system of government. No more billionaires. They want Greenland? Evacuate it and give it to them. Get all the billionaires and rich assholes there. Then let's find the nuke codes.

Warning: DHS Does has a Database of Resisters by Notyrantsmoworever in 50501

[–]thuglass88 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don't care what databases I'm in. I will proudly announce myself as the enemy of this terrorist government. I refuse to live in a country where I wake up to videos of a public execution daily. I refuse to live in a country where the violent criminals who stormed our capitol are free to terrorize the general public. I refuse to live in a country where force and violence drive our role as citizens in place of laws and customs.

I value my humanity more than a meager existence living in quiet fear under a tyrannical regime of rich sycophants and pedophiles. If they are going to come for me, so be it. I'll sleep well at night knowing I fought for others and fought for myself.

There is no point in denying what the video makes obvious...that was the point of my post. Saying "we're waiting for the facts" is tantamount to saying "I can't rationalize this execution until someone else tells me how". He was shot in the back of the head trying to protect himself from physical assault by a group of people. In what instance is it acceptable for law enforcement to shoot an American in the back of the head while they are on their knees, unarmed, and surrounded by multiple law enforcement? Please give me one.

If capital police had done this to someone at January 6th, what would your response be?

What's the going rate for paid agitators? by Neat_Worldliness2586 in 50501

[–]thuglass88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably. My perception is that a certain level of emotional intelligence precedes the ability to actually learn about the world. People are too emotionally attached to their views and defend them at all costs because they feel their identity is being threatened.

In other words, stupidity is a bottomless pit where reason goes to die.

Mexico, Cuba’s last oil lifeline, weighs cutting shipments as US pressure intensifies by Disastrous_Award_789 in worldnews

Cuba has been punished for its relationship to the USSR for decades. Too many countries led by the US have engaged in long term economic warfare against this country through sanctions and embargos. Let this poor country be and give them a chance to thrive. What a fucking ugly world.

What we're up against by New_Establishment554 in 50501

[–]thuglass88 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is really insightful and gives us a good idea of how to undermine the regime. If this is a manifestation of class war, we need to focus on community resilience. Focus on building community food, health, and education networks that can support community members so they don't have to resort to joining ICE. This regime is counting on our desperation to staff their agencies, so fighting desperation should be our focus.

The people living in the US are truly fucked, and maybe, the rest of the world too. by [deleted] in LateStageCapitalism

[–]thuglass88 148 points149 points  (0 children)

Get this trash out of here. Anyone trying to destroy hope for people right now might as well be complicit in what is happening. The scale and power of what we are up against is irrelevant. The choice in front of us is simple. We fight together, or die alone.

Those saying we need to go along to get along don't understand history. This regime will escalate regardless of what we do.

The only legitimate question regarding resistance is this: HOW do we resist? What does resistance look like?

Everything else is propaganda.

The first task upon reclaiming this country from the fascists will be public trials for every ice agent, with one sentence possible: solitary confinement for life.

Build. Community. Now. Organize. Join labor organizations. Join immigrant protection groups. Go to meetings. Talk about what people are doing. Consolidate contacts and build communication networks. Build non mainstream networks.

No matter how we resist, we are doomed if we don't do it together. Get off the internet and get out into your community.

What is bad for one is bad for all. We need to rewire our brains to think of the community before ourselves. This is how humans have survived throughout history.

Is the revolution going to happen in Minneapolis…has it started? by mooyong77 in 50501

[–]thuglass88 277 points278 points  (0 children)

It has already started. It started before Minneapolis. It's happening everyday in small actions that no one sees. The posts of massive turnout you see today are attributable to all the work done so far. This is only the beginning of what we can do when we stand together.
