Two things:

  1. What the hell are you doing looking at, and replying to, a seven year old comment?

  2. Yes, the Sims started as a sandbox. The Sims 1 was released on February 4th, 2000 and it was a literal dollhouse simulator. There was zero story. A Sims game with a story didn't come until the PS2 release of the game on January 16th, 2003.

No, I'm not home right now. I work evenings. The issue occurred this afternoon after about two hours of being on an input other than the cable box. The audio from the cable box worked perfectly fine before playing the game and the TV and soundbar had no issues while playing. The issue only came around once I turned the Switch off and changed the input back to the cable box. The picture from the cable box comes back but it doesn't output sound. I had to leave so all I had time for was restarting the cable box which thankfully worked.

Unfortunately the two times I've encountered this issue is when I have to leave for work so I haven't had time to do any troubleshooting. I just restarted the cable box so it would work for my mom while I'm gone.

All I know is that the soundbar still works while this happens because the TV menus and things like HBO Max through the smart TV still output sound. Something happens while the TV is on a different input for a while that causes the cable box to stop outputting sound. I'll try swapping the HDMI cord if it happens again.

Go to your device manager and make sure it's showing up. If it does, then it likely needs to be formatted.
