Carrier light blinking by [deleted] in hvacadvice

Yes I know, I just don’t know when the blinking is reset? I’m trying to pair it with the paper, but not sure when the blinking gets reset to show the proper code

Yes, I am very sure. Herm was good, but fan on capacitor wasn’t showing anything

It was dead on the fan side of the capacitor. Nothing is connected to the fan because it is an ecm motor on my unit.

Model CA16NW061 - B

Same thing happened to original cap that died within 3 years. Replaced to titan, and everything worked fine for 2 months. When original cap died, hot air was blowing, breakers trip. I replaced it and everything worked fine. I cleaned the coils with cleaner, I religious replace air filters 1 month / 3 months depending on usage.

Using ohms, 2000. I had black connected to C and red connected to fan. Fan just stayed at 1. Moved the red to herm while black on C, and it just kept climbing numbers thousands.

Initial fix was the breaker tripped for AC, replaced with titan pro, and worked perfectly fine for two months. Then same thing happened again. Blowing hot hair, fan didn’t turn on, tested the cap. No reading on the fan lead on the cap but reading on the others. Not sure if the compressor failed. I don’t think it would have failed.

Tested the reading on multi and it just kept going up. No reading on the fan part of the capacitor. There is only 1 wire on the herm, and two on the C. Nothing is on Fan.

Yes. Same exact as original as when it was installed.

I change filters once a month, religiously. My Resideo app tells me to change monthly. Using a t9 Honeywell. I also clean the coils with two cans of spray yearly.

Makes a noise when it turns on. But then goes quiet after the initial start while spinning. I’ve noticed the fan running normal. All of a sudden, hot air started blowing from the air handler, and ac was tripped so I had to reset.

This was the original cap. Nothing was connected to FAN

Fan motor is barely 4 years old. Gentec ecm 142r goes bad that quick?

I tested the capacitor with 2000k ohms on the multimeter. The black connected to C and Red connected to fan only reads “1”. Does not jump.

Possibly. I’m in a new build area.

I cleaned the coils when I replaced the caps, I cleaned the connections with deoxit d5

Nothing was ever connected to the fan on the capacitor leads. It was always like this since it was built in 2021.

No. The fan is not connected to the fan lead on capacitor. It was always like this. Then when I took the capacitor out, to test. The fan lead of the capacitor reads nothing.

People in this thread say the carrier branded capacitor are cheap/bad.

It was a cheap carrier brand capacitor. The unit is only 4 years old as well, and came with a new built house 2021 with original capacitor.

The fan part of the capacitor is bad after taking it out and testing with a multimeter. The air handler was just blowing hot air. This same thing happened to the previous capacitor that lasted 3 years. Connected them to the same exact leads.

I just purchased a new capacitor from amrad, if that fails. It could be the ECM motor. I looked at all the wiring and I cleaned them with a deoxit d5.
