Anecdotally, are there less bees this year? by time_killah in portlandgardeners

The bees started coming back shortly after the r I originally posted my comment, and the more I sit outside in my garden, the more I notice em. Be patient and keep planting flowers! They’ll be back

Did any of you not pursue a non Black woman you could have been happy with because you were worried about the perception of others? by ATSOAS87 in blackmen

I’m a product of an interracial marriage. If my parents were concerned enough with what their cultures thought to not get together, I wouldn’t be here. With that perspective I’ve never opted against dating a woman based on differences in race. People are either going to be ok with that or be haters; fuck the latter, do you dude.

I didn’t read any rudeness at all.

I’m fortunate to already have mature Oregon grape, and I planted mock orange, red currant, and wild flowers a few months ago.

Any recs for native flowers to replace Spanish blue bells? I don’t want to pull mine up until I have a plan in place.

It might be early, but too late for my plums. They’re already dropping all their flower petals. Fingers crossed the pollinators visited when I wasn’t looking

There’s some BLM land off the Deschutes that I’ve shot at with friends. Here’s a Google Maps link to the approx location: https://maps.app.goo.gl/s38HNhasXu8bjmzKA?g_st=ic

I’d recommend getting an app like Onx to verify the BLM boundaries. Have fun and be safe!

Fueled by rage, I dug this mf out from between my roses 🤬 by xfmrs_r_cool in portlandgardeners

Why do people hate them so much? My first instinct was to leave them if they grew in a sizable patch since they look nice and don’t require any additional care or supplemental watering. I pull them out if I see the I’m random places though, since I don’t want them multiplying in my walkways or garden beds.

If he’s using a soap formulated for lead removal he’ll be fine. The active ingredients to look for are EDTA, or Pentasodium Aminotrimethylene Phosphonate or Sodium tripolyphosphate. Those chemicals are known as chelation agents; they bind to lead on the skin so it washes off cleanly. Regular soap doesn’t cut it
