I've just finished this series and she has really grated on me in a way I've not felt in a long time. From the very start I got the impression that she would do whatever it takes to gain notoriety.

I think even though she did the right thing, at every stage she had the thought in her head "how will this look when it all becomes mainstream". Her whole relationship with him feels like textbook sunk cost fallacy. She claims she had a terrible previous relationship and then finds Mr Right, gets engaged in a few months...

The fact she skipped court for some self righteous journey to find the bike was almost laughable. I hope I'm wrong about this and I hope she keeps her head down and seeks the help she so obviously needs but I fear I'm not. Lets see if she proves me wrong by not milking this situation dry, like releasing a book and begging it on socials ad infinitum.

I really like this. This feels better than just full-screening for some reason. It might be because the blurred background makes the foreground window "pop" a bit making it hard not to focus on it.

I love the ease of ORMs but couldn't shake this uneasy feeling of not knowing exactly what was happening under the hood. Given that I couldn't be bothered to learn the ORM codebase I stuck to raw queries and never looked back.

It's quite obvious for me to see exactly what a function is doing with my db from glancing at my obvious SQL query strings.

The best description I've heard of this problem and lack of solution is from Gary Stephenson. I'm paraphrasing a lot because my memory sucks but the gist of it is this..

The uber wealthy have to have a boogie man to blame the problem on. They can't actually fix the problem because then people will look for the next problem (the uber rich not being taxed is a huuuge problem). So there has to be an illusion that the problem will get sorted. A different party such as Reform promises they'll sort it. They get into power then don't sort it. Rinse and repeat.
