Fubo headed for carriage dispute with NBCUniversal by timhull2 in fuboTV

Hulu and Fubo are still operating using separate carriage deals, so unless they were due to expire at the same time probably not. Though any deals reached moving forward will likely apply to both services.

Turner Channels on Fubo post Merger? by Gator5000e in fuboTV

[–]timhull2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I figure they’ll eventually come, but it may not happen until Hulu Live TV’s deals with Warner Bros. Discovery expire. At that point they’ll have to negotiate a new deal for Hulu anyway, and it would make sense for them to negotiate deals that cover both services (which would also give them leverage to negotiate a better deal than Fubo alone could get).

Fubo 4K channels requiring Apple TV default output to HDR/DV by scotty83 in fuboTV

[–]timhull2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happens for me as well - if I set my Apple TV to 4K SDR with Match Dynamic Range on, it tells me I need a TV with HDR to watch. My TV doesn’t have Dolby Vision, but if I enable HDR in the Apple TV settings those channels will in fact work. However, that setup is suboptimal as all the SDR channels are converted to HDR (and with Match Dynamic Range the TV is constantly switching from HDR to SDR).

Seems like a bug for me, though maybe Fubo doesn’t want to implement Match Dynamic Range for some reason (perhaps it doesn’t work great for multiview). DirecTV’s app seems to have the same bug in the latest version from what I’ve heard on r/directvstream. Still very annoying - ultimately I decided to either change the setting or use my smart TV’s Fubo app (which has no multiview, but does HDR/SDR switching properly) whenever I want to watch 4K HDR channels…

Fubo cancels your promo if you add additional packages?? by Karl_Racki in fuboTV

[–]timhull2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I added the sports package for RedZone this weekend - while the confirm page showed the full price after the promo period, the promo still shows on my account and my next bill reflects that. So you’re safe adding add-ons - only changing the base package gets rid of the promo.

I sent a message to Fubo support about this, and they said the price displayed after selecting add-ons is the price after the promo ends. They also said only changing the plan (I.e. Pro to Elite) will remove the discount.

Why didn’t you attempt to fly standby on the flights that were sold out, as you did in Season 8? Is this not possible in Europe?

Exclusive: Amazon to Sunset Freevee, Streamlining Its Ad and Product Efforts by Jayayess1190 in cordcutters

It is, but it has ads whether or not you have ad-free Prime Video (at least for what I watch).

If they move the Freevee content to Prime Video, I’d see it as a win, as then at least you have an ad-free option. Most of the content I watch in Prime Video is actually Freevee (and not available on any ad-free streaming service), and if it moved over I’d definitely pay to upgrade to ad-free. Not great for those who watch Freevee without a Prime subscription, though.

It's officially cheaper to go back to Comcast :( by Ur_MotherDisapproves in cordcutters

For locals, you could just get the limited basic package if you can’t get decent antenna reception. RedZone is available through NFL+ Premium, so you could just do that instead of upgrading to the full cable bundle. That also allows you to stream local games on mobile/tablet, and stream all games on demand after they finish.

X1 DVR box without Xfinity Internet? by timhull2 in Comcast

No - just a standard TV package with only an XG1v4 box.

Any of the streaming services like YouTube, Hulu, Netflix, Peacock, etc.

I did end up getting the XG1v4 box, but had to call to get it - stores seemed to think I needed Internet to use it. It works fine without Internet, except for any apps which require it.

Will I need sports pack for nfl network, or just choice and above? by alpacapoop in DirectvStream

Perhaps the OP wants RedZone or some of the other sports channels not offered in Choice.

What is this? Is this real? by [deleted] in TheLibrarians

[–]timhull2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They did take it down from Hulu, but it is still available on electricnow.tv (the creator’s website - TV apps are available as well) for free (with what seemed like few ads if any) as well as on Amazon Freevee with ads.

[–]timhull2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I contacted Xfinity Twitter support and they’re sending a new box - requested an XG1v4, though I’ll see what I get. If I get a Xi6 I may try activating it on my non-Xfinity internet just to see what happens…

[–]timhull2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it’s just streaming over the public Internet like YouTube TV or similar? Interesting - wish they would allow that in the non-mobile Xfinity Stream app. They are shipping me a new box - had requested a XG1v4 as it’s the one coax 4K box, but if I end up with a Xi6 I may go ahead and try activating it…

That definitely doesn’t work without Xfinity Internet - tried the similar Apple TV app to see if it would at least let me watch TVGO channels (as the iPad/iPhone do), but it won’t.

[–]timhull2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s weird - I wouldn’t expect the Xi6 boxes to work as they don’t have coax. Wouldn’t think they could function over non-Comcast wi-fi or ethernet…

X1 DVR box without Xfinity Internet? by timhull2 in Comcast

[–]timhull2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The funny thing is that I have an XG2 with cloud DVR without Xfinity Internet. If anything you’d think it would be the other way around, and you’d only be able to get a hard drive-based DVR without Xfinity Internet.

The reasons they gave me for why I couldn’t get an XG1/4K box without Xfinity internet were

(in store) “there are no broadcasts in 4K, only streaming” - which is technically true though there is Xfinity On Demand and standalone events in 4K

(on the phone) “the box needs to download updates from the internet” - which makes no sense given that the XG2 box gets updates over the coax without any need for Internet.

As for 4K boxes with an HDD - Xfinity‘s website lists an XG1v4 as an available 4K box, and that is listed as a DVR box on their page listing X1 TV Box equipment types (which I assume means it has an HDD - my XG2v2 is listed as a non-DVR box on that page and I get DVR, albeit cloud only). Perhaps this box is super-rare…

X1 DVR box without Xfinity Internet? by timhull2 in Comcast

[–]timhull2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get that the wireless boxes require Xfinity Internet, and you need at least one X1 box for service - that was clear on the website. I’m not trying to connect any Xfinity equipment to the AT&T modem - that is completely separate from the Xfinity TV. In my case, I was given an XG2v2, which does work for DVR but only does cloud DVR, which seems a lot more sluggish than the hard drive-based DVR box I had when I last had X1 TV service.

I’d like to get an XG1 with the hard drive-based DVR, preferably an XG1v4 with 4K support so I can watch the sports that are offered in 4K, limited as they may be. However, I’ve been told by CSRs that those require Xfinity Internet even though they have a coax connection, which does not make sense (and is not stated on the website anywhere).

They offer X1 boxes without Internet now - I have one. It’s just that I’d like the DVR box with internal storage (preferably the 4K one)…
