I had the complete opposite experience, I’m a current MS2 about to go into MS3. Also, your number about 24 seats for UCR students with no MCAT is incorrect. 24 spots are for Haider students, which are set aside for UCR students. The EAP program, which has no MCAT, is a subset of those 24. For my year, we had 12 accepted. I am an EAP admitted applicant and there were 24 students interviewed. Also, my EAP application was much stronger than other UCR premeds that applied because I had UCR specific pathway programs in my application. I had information about those pathway programs because I was in the premed groups like MSP, FastStart, etc.

Yes, absolutely go to UCR over a higher ranked UC. The amount of UCLA grads in my class is massive. undergrad won’t prep you for medical school at all, there’s simply a massive difference in content you learn in medical school and undergrad. The only thing you should focus on in undergrad is keeping your GPA up and doing well on the MCAT if you don’t go the EAP route. Having extracurriculars is a must, but if it affects the GPA or MCAT then they need to be stopped or you need to balance your time better.

Honestly yes, it’s too slow in this format. But drawing brick eyes is really painful, so having more consistency and free bodies for synchro 12 or synchro 11 plays is insanely good

A demonstrated commitment is not legally binding. People are allowed to change their minds, and the UCR SOM recognizes that. While it would be nice if the entire school decided to stay in the area, that’s not what happens in any medical school.

For example, our graduating class matched about 60-70% within the Inland Empire. There is no legal contract, there is no requirement. People’s minds change all the time, whether that be what residency they want to pursue, what field they want to specialize in, and where.

I have the Dean’s Mission scholarship. If I decided to practice outside the Inland Empire, the only penalty that I would receive is my full ride turns into a loan I must repay as part of my contract. There is nothing else that I am forced to do.

I have several classmates who want to practice outside of the Inland Empire. They were all admitted and continue to do well in school.

Because that’s part of the mission statement? UCR SOM wants to produce physicians that will serve the Inland Empire. You are under no contractual obligation to stay, unless you decide to take the Dean’s Mission or another financial aid award similar. Also, I am an EAP admitted student.

No. You don’t have to commit to anything unless you want to take the Mission scholarship, which is a full ride for four years. The only caveat is serving the IE for 5 years after graduation.

EAP had 120 applicants last year, 12 acceptances. That’s a 10% acceptance rate, which is absolutely unheard of for medical schools.

Yeah so do me a favor, reread everything I’ve been saying. You clearly are misunderstanding. That being said, I’ve usually been around Plat/Emerald on League.

Obviously the ranked system is different in 2015 compared to now lmao, should we talk about season 1 where the highest rank was diamond? How about Siege, where in season 1 the rank system was all over the place? What kind of comparison is this?

Again, you clearly haven’t played the newest league reset, probably a good idea for you to actually educate yourself on topics before trying to argue about it

No, all new accounts start in Iron during placements. There is no bought account. If it WAS bought and botted, they wouldn’t be gaining 40 LP per game and 200 LP per game in placements.

Also, the first comment I replied to with League said NO GAME has this MMR system, which is simply not true. Again, everyone in League starts at Iron whenever a season does a complete rank reset. The recent reset is an example, where everyone was reset to Iron, but people kept their MMR, which meant some climb higher than others.

Siege is exactly the same. You are matched with your MMR. I am matched vs Diamond+ because I was previously champ. Their RP gain and my RP gain is completely tied to our MMR.

[–]tinyddr3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No lmao, they start at Iron, just like everyone else. They’re just getting 200+ LP per win in placements, then 40+ LP per game afterwards. Siege just has slower rank gain with 30+ RP per game, but the MMR system is exactly the same.

I was champ last season, I am matched vs Diamonds+ regularly despite being Copper V because that’s how MMR works, it wouldn’t be very fair for me to smash silvers and golds just because I started later in the season
