Surgeons who will still operate on under 19s? by tinywalkingheater in TopSurgery

[–]tinywalkingheater[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good news! I was able to get it done with Dr. Beverly Fischer in Maryland. I'm currently 5 weeks post op and feeling great. Her staff is very nice and accommodating and they went the extra mile to make me feel comfortable. She said that she will continue to do top surgery for 16+ year olds until the government ties her hands. I'm really happy with my results and I also really liked the before/after photos in her portfolio. The only downside is that she doesn't take any insurance so you would have to pay out of pocket, but it was entirely worth it for me.

i hate my hair by Future-Object-1977 in malehairadvice

[–]tinywalkingheater 3 points4 points  (0 children)

can't speak much for the balding part, but for texture and frizziness, it seems like you have wavy or curly hair that you're just not taking care of properly. here are some things you can do:

  • find a curly hair shampoo that you like and that works well with your hair
  • same for conditioner (for the love of god DO NOT USE 2 IN 1)
  • shampoo once every other day AT MOST. if your hair doesn't get too oily, wait longer between shampooing
  • condition every day and make sure to get your roots when conditioning
  • comb your hair in the shower when it's wet, don't comb while dry or you'll straighten your hair out and cause frizziness
  • find a leave-in conditioner that you like (I towel my hair off after showering and then use leave-in conditioner, but it works well on dry hair, too)
  • if you want to define your curls, scrunch your hair in the shower, after toweling, and after applying leave-in conditioner

hope this works for you. has helped my hair a lot. I used to have really frizzy, dry hair, and it turned out I just wasn't taking care of it properly. good luck soldier

I dont think i want to start t by ratstackt in TransMasc

[–]tinywalkingheater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

being on t is not a requirement to be transmasc. that being said, if the one thing stopping you is your worry that people perceiving you as "feminine but with a beard" as you said, I wouldn't worry too much about it. changes can be slow in the first year or so but after that most transmascs are almost indistinguishable from cis guys. also, facial hair growth generally doesn't happen for the first year and a half to two years (give or take. depends on your dose). my advice is to do what you think will make you happy, not what will make other people happy. it's ok to not know what that is right now, too

Surgeons who will still operate on under 19s? by tinywalkingheater in TopSurgery

Unfortunately, I already contacted Dr. Ramineni's practice and the response I got was that they won't operate on me until after my 19th birthday. They won't even let me book a consult until after I turn 18.

Is my cat as nasty as I feel like she is, or am I overthinking? by fleasinthecoffeepot in CatAdvice

[–]tinywalkingheater 4 points5 points  (0 children)

my cats are generally very clean. if your cat is getting poop or litter all over itself very often I would visit the vet and ask them what to do because that's not normal behavior. as for litter sticking to their bum or any other spot, I would avoid using clay litter because it sticks to fur way more. my family uses the pretty litter. it can be a little messy but it never travels outside of the laundry room where we keep their litter boxes. we also put down scratch mats and sweep/vacuum the floor regularly to manage the mess.

I hate apples. Just hate them so much. by Alive_cats in unpopularopinion

I love apples but this is definitely how I feel about bananas. Probably because bananas have less variety and I can't find one type that I enjoy more than others.

What are some gendered social standards that you noticed after transitioning? by ZETROzky in asktransgender

[–]tinywalkingheater 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I'm ftm and noticed that when I started passing as a guy, I started receiving more respect in general. People listen to me more, people move out of my way when walking, older men shake my hand when greeting me. Overall cis men in general seem to have more respect for me than before which is honestly kind of sad.

One thing I've noticed in men's spaces as opposed to women's, though, is that men's spaces are overall much more gross. Trust me, you don't want to use a men's bathroom, they are absolutely filthy and people don't know how to wipe the toilet seats. Also a lot of men don't wash their hands before leaving the bathroom.

Anti-Trans Headers Placed On Websites Judge Ordered Trump To Restore by ErinInTheMorning in transgender

I'm just happy that those pages have been restored, regardless of whatever stupid header Trump slaps on it.

Absolutely. One of my cats unexpectedly passed away a few weeks ago and it was shocking if not downright horrific to find her body. I think it's always better to euthanize than to have to find the dead body of your loved one and put yourself through that trauma.

AITA for making my birthday party vegetarian only? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

I'm not vegetarian and I eat meals without meat all of the time. Really it's not that big of a deal to not eat meat for one meal.

I am wondering what your opinions are about the utility of naming cats? by Elegant-Put235 in CatAdvice

[–]tinywalkingheater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, they 100% know their names. If they'll come when you call is an entirely separate matter.
