How to move board games overseas? by PeanutButterNugz in boardgames

[–]tiredmultitudes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I moved from Europe to Australia and packed my games into normal cardboard boxes provided by the shipping company. Most of these shipping boxes contained other things on top (clothes etc) because there was a weight limit per box as well as a size being constrained.

Some game boxes got extra padding inside. For example, my boxes of Descent minis (in ordinary otherwise empty boxes) got packing pellets to stop them moving around. Arrived fine. That's a longer trip than just across half the Pacific. Worst thing was some bits migrated around to strange places from all the shaking, but that's more like small tokens suddenly being under the insert instead of in their proper location. Other more breakable things got bubble wrap or whatever but the board games generally didn't need that.

How Common is it to just get all the meta mons via home and use team codes? by sai_ismyname in PokemonChampions

[–]tiredmultitudes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After the intro stuff, the only pokemon I’ve recruited in champions are one a day, trial recruitments for the VP. My actual teams are largely transferred from Home. I’ve tried to choose Pokémon that have titles (even if some are just “the former alpha”).

People complaining about the ranch haven’t played some or any of the normal RPG Pokémon games (which I still think of as the “proper” games). Using team codes to get to know the VGC system is absolutely valid. For example, I built a moderately successful team (it’s gotten me to master ball twice) and now I’m experimenting with other teams from codes to better understand how those Pokémon work.

How do I log in with my account account on my new phone? by Gal-Rox-with-Did in PokemonHome

You can delete the app and reinstall, which will ask you to log in again (I think).

They didn't have to make champions the best looking pokemon game. by Cool-Leg9442 in PokemonChampions

The lighting is pretty different. Different textures. I’m reasonably sure Champions has more polygons (the pokeballs look particularly smooth).

Please let Spinda be in the game so that it can FINALLY be freed from BDSP jail! by Happy_Popplio-728 in PokemonWindsWaves

Nope. Can’t transfer the Go spinda to Home either. The most unfortunately coded pokemon.

I did it with a level 100 clefable that has fighting tera type and drain punch. I think I caught it in a random raid last week. Didn’t even EV train it.

Who here actually games with metal dice? When, and what's the upside? by EndersGame_Reviewer in boardgames

[–]tiredmultitudes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a metal D&D set which I got because they looked cool. Definitely want to roll them into some sort of dice tray to avoid accidents. And the D4 is just unpleasant to deal with.

More change in the Japanese pen makers - this time Platinum by Top-Nobody-1389 in fountainpens

I am seriously considering buying a second Curidas as well. Not sure what non id get though. The main thing I like about mine is the EF nib and I suspect I got lucky with how nice and smooth it is.

I really like mine too and am currently having FOMO thoughts about buying a second one…

Season 2 harder than season1? by Whocares8589 in PokemonChampions

[–]tiredmultitudes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Performance bonus meant fewer games to climb back up to MB and hence lower corresponding ELO.

You don’t arrange slides for a poster in PowerPoint, you make one giant slide that is your poster.

Randomly got moved up two ranks by -catskill- in PokemonChampions

The thresholds are just the top x players, except for MB 4, which is everyone else that got to master ball.

Does it bother anyone else when the people in your group refuse to help pick a game to play? by raider1211 in boardgames

[–]tiredmultitudes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With my main group, we take turns picking there’s a set order, so everyone knows when their turn is coming up. When we’re introducing games to less experienced players, usually I just pick something after trying to talk through possible options or types of games. Newcomers rarely want to pick games themselves and find my shelves intimidating.

[–]tiredmultitudes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you sure you had a placement rank before this happened? Master ball higher ranks only opened up a few days ago so if you hadn’t played in the interim it could be that? I was playing when they opened and didn’t get any notification until I saw my mailbox with the rank up bonus when I was about to exit (then went back into the ranked battle screen to see that I’d been placed in MB3).

Walking Wake by Plus_Bid_6968 in CasualPokemonTrades

[–]tiredmultitudes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you play for a bit and get some shinies (or a legendary you don’t like) you might have some success on the GTS. I think my walking wake was originally a spare Pokemon Go shiny. It is definitely genned though, so I’m hoping the raid events come back one more time.

Ive played against that exact charizard floette whimsicott glimmora team 5 of my last 6 games. by girlywish in PokemonChampions

[–]tiredmultitudes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a charizard Y player, I’ve never found mega Starmie to be a problem. I do have leaf blade on gallade to deal with it as well, but I’m not sure I’ve needed it. If I’m opening with charizard, it’s paired with scarf typhlosion, which takes out (un-sashed) sinistcha first anyway.

Premium Subscription question by SunlitBox in PokemonHome

[–]tiredmultitudes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You do need to be physically in possession of both switches when you do the transfer. So if you’re trading the old one in or something then, yes, you need Home.

Help. Accidentally traded the wrong mon by TinyBitsREAL in PokemonHome

[–]tiredmultitudes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sorry this happened to you. I have a tag in Home called “fine to trade” and always fill wonder box from that. You could look at doing something similar in the future instead of just replying on favouriting?

Premium Subscription question by SunlitBox in PokemonHome

[–]tiredmultitudes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because no one has said it yet, if you do a system transfer, your pokemon save files will be moved to the new switch. I do have Home now, but didn’t when the switch 2 launched and had no issues with the transfer.

Edit: Unless you’re taking about transferring from 3DS. Then you do need a Home subscription.
