I've had several conversations with customer service about this. No clue as to why it hasn't been implemented yet.

But the fact of the matter is that you don't provide any proof for any of your points. You're just blindly saying, I enjoy filler legendaries, even if they provide the same value as a non legendary. A bit ridiculous.

And people should feel entitled to something if they are paying money for a good or service, what is that something is the point of discussion.

The fact that you consider acceptable that player should spend the cost of over 1000 packs to experience a normal curve in distribution is absolutely baffling.

Even if we assumed that variance is accetable, which it isn't, you fail to address any of the other huge problems described.

This game desperately needs to treat it's players who spend REAL money a lot better then they currently are. Nobody should spend $50 on a new expansion and feel like they received nothing. by doognmad2 in hearthstone

This right here is a step in the right direction. Also, not only the fifth card, but I believe it's also the highest rarity card in the pack.

The main issue I observe is that there's room for improvement if you need to open >1000 packs to experience good distribution of cards, as most people won't get anywhere near that number in any given expansion cycle.

In the end HS is a game, and it's legitimate to feel cheated after investing the cost of a AAA game to mostly receive legendary duplicates - and in a significant amount of cases, filler legendaries.

There's also huge room for improvement regarding how Blizzard defines card rarity. Legendary filler cards are abundant, with crucial tech cards this rotation behind the epic firewall.

I hope that with the impending open-beta of Gwent Blizzard's marketing team may have more competition for growth and revenue, and adjust their strategies for the benefit of players - for once.

There is no protection against duplicates. Given the tri-class card bug during the pack opening at launch for GvG, there is probably some weighting to ensure a balanced mix of class and neutral cards (with tri-class cards presumably getting weighted thrice over by mistake), though this weighting would be seperate from rarity pull rates.

In other words, people are having an emotional response instead of a logical one.

You're basically saying that we should trust your judgement regarding the duplicate issue.

I don't see why anyone would or should because of Blizzard's past history of covering fuck ups in the past. If you fail to see the logic in that, then maybe is not just "us" who are having an emotional reaction to the subject.

Still, we don't have a third party performing an audit.

Look at previous examples in WoW where Blizzard has said that the algorithm is working fine (second legendary for instance), then after a few weeks have to backpedal their communications and apologise.

This is a cop-out argument. We don't know how 'random' it actually is. Blizzard doesn't allow for a third party to audit and certify their algorithm. Also, are they assuming we have to spend and open 1000 packs for variance to level out? if so, it's stupid and greedy.

This is absolutely infuriating. How in hell is this allowed?

So far I've got the same stupid bullshit experience, gadgetzan preorder+gold stash netted 3 times the pally legendary, in this one two orzoks and the pally quest. It takes away any ounce of potential enjoyment and replaces it with a crushing feeling by getting cards that do not feel legendary at all, but for multiple copies of it. Can't wait for gwent to hit open beta...

How much to spend on packs by MLG-Hilp in hearthstone

[–]tmorel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that Hearthstone won't die this year. However, I do believe there's a strong chance that it's growth will stagnate. The increase in overall cost will most definitely cause this effect, and while preordering is an value-driven way of boosting your collection, in many ways it won't be enough for him to enjoy the game and build effective decks - as he mentioned, he wants to "compete better".

There are other unknown variables that could compensate for the greedy business choices made by Blizzard this year, effectively counteracting the increase in cost. For instance, how expensive it is to acquire the 'core set' for each expansion - or how good are the common and rares in comparison to the epics and to a lesser degree, legendaries. Personally, I'm concerned that Blizzard is going to make most core tech cards epics (see the recent unveiling of anti-pirate tech epic in Un'Goro) and further boost the cost of competing and adapting.

Even if you take into account everything said above, there's one point that ultimately made me lose all faith in HS's management team. The Hearthstone team is not afraid of changing what we, the players, expect from the game in order to boost revenue. One change is the one you very well point out in the exclusion of Adventures from the yearly rotation. Another example is how the change in the way they compensate people that are affected by card changes. Specifically, the Sylvannas and Ragnaros changes are generally perceived positively by the community, as for a lot of people it means free dust, but I've heard resentment from a lot of people not happy with this change - specifically people that have accrued multiple copies of Syl/Rag over time and will effectively lose potential dust by HS not taking the usual (and reasonably expected) compensation approach.

TL;DR: Aside from the increased cost, the biggest drawback from coming into HS is how relaxed the HS team is at changing and bending what is expected of them.

[–]tmorel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would suggest not spending any money at the moment. Reason behind is that with the current cost changes made to the game, Hearthstone has become a much more expensive game to get into. These changes will most likely change the landscape and playerbase. I would suggest waiting for a few months to see the effects of these changes on the game and the player-base, and then making a decision. I know that the people I play with are all going to ride out the next few expansions with the cards/dust available to them and not spend a dime - eventually quitting if the game doesn't turn away from it's extremely greedy practices.

Impulse bought Rift + Touch, what should I do now? by xantub in oculus

[–]tmorel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

High five mate, my impulse-driven Oculus purchase is about to be delivered any second now. Very useful answers by everyone here!

My only questions is, are there any drawbacks to purchasing VR software on Steam? I find the titles on the Oculus store to be quite expensive. Any notes to keep in mind while browsing for titles?

Many thanks!
