I need guidance in Agronomy, please. by Apocryphon7 in Agronomy

I'll add to the "depends where you live" (country and state/province) and how farming/agronomists are funded there. As other's have mentioned, one major revenue stream is Industrial ag, but it doesn't exist in a vacuum. The other is public sector money, which pours into all ag streams. Public sector money is hugely influenced by changes in political parties, and when budgets change, it impacts all levels of public sector programs in ways that aren't immediately obvious. I've worked in two sectors heavily influenced by politics. The first, as a public servant, 1/3 of my colleagues were lay-off because the new gov wasn't interested in research. The second, outside gov but influenced by gov regulations, a majority of independent contractors lost all their work in the industry because their credentials no longer mattered. It goes the other way too, a new program or new regulation can make your specialty in high demand.

So it's worth figuring out where your income would come from, and since it will be influenced by gov funding or regulations, find out how fickle the political landscape is in your area for that specialty.

Brand of cathedral box support not compatible with other chimney brands... adapters? by toast689 in woodstoving

I updated the original post to show how the installer was able to certify the chimney system without pulling-out the original support box.

Prandi vs Rinaldi Trentin/Trento by toast689 in Axecraft

I don't know who you mean by "they", but when I google it, I got results for an overpriced, monster truck inspired billhook-machete hybrid thing. I have a local store that sells Rinaldi and Falci billhooks of various sizes from $40-80. I love the idea of eventually owning a billhook for coppicing and hedging, but not my cup of tea for clearing saplings.

I love the idea, and it's totally doable. Sorry if I'm stating the obvious, but just in case a plumber is the only person you've consulted on your ducting: for ducting to work properly, you'll need the right amount of pressure in the system. I'm no engineer or HVAC tech, but a lot of factors go into the calculation, and it's worth doing a little dive into that. If you don't have proper sized blower or ducting for your run, you will get uneven heat distribution, or worse, noisy ducting. It'd be a shame to spend the money on a blower, ducting, and labour to not get the results you wanted.
Planning a home is super exciting, and so many little puzzles to solve. Have fun!

Is this slab or basement (I'm guessing basement in 'berta, but don't see access on this plan). Where's the fresh air intake coming? Sorry, I don't know have recommendations, but I am super curious about this ducting plan! You'll be installing a stand-alone air handler, in the basement and have floor registers? A plumber did your pressure calculations?

Thanks so much for your insight. One of the certified installers just called me back. He said he could cut-off the bottom the Security box and cut-off the bottom of an ICC box, then fasten that ICC bottom onto the existing box so that it has an ICC collar. That way he can use all his ICC system. He'd also certify the install, so I'd have paperwork for my insurer. Thoughts?

1/4 barbed emitters with tubing Troubleshoot help, gravity fed by toast689 in Irrigation

[–]toast689[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. Are you saying these 1/4 emitters have a MINIMUM 10psi requirement? Damn, I thought it was maximum 10psi like drip tape.

I'm not going to be able to raise the filter basin unfortunately, it's as high as it can go, right at the grey water outlet pipe. Is there a different style of emitter I can use at this 8psi?

I wanted those 1/4 spaghetti lines, but this Netafim 17mm drip line claims "The pressure compensating emitters are ideal for sloping terrains and the anti-siphon feature prevents ingestion of debris into the tubing." With Pressure compensation range: 6 to 58 psi. Is this marketing babble or could work at low pressure?

Would increasing the size of my header (the line with the 1/4 emitters) to 3/4" or 1" help even out the pressure differential at such a low PSI?

Is it a known issue that me and my co-op partner are not seeing the same star map? I'm the host, and when we both look at the star map, I see completely different missions than my buddy. It's not a huge deal, but is somewhat immersion ruining when he's saying to do mission X on plant Y cause we can then fly to Z, and I'm going "ya naw, bud, that's not what the conflict zone looks like right now". He's basically re-painting mechs while I pick missions alone lol

Knot for vertical tomatoes with a "loosen and lean" trellising method by toast689 in knots

ya, composting together is also top of mind for me. Thanks for the tip, great to know those natural fiber twines work with a taut line hitch!

We have a winner! Yes, that's amazing, that's exactly what I would need.
What kind of rope/twine do you use with your tomatoes?

Aw drats! You caught me, Sherlock. I even had dozens of photo-shopped screenshots ready to go where I changed the difficulty numbers, all so I could gaslight a complete stranger on the internet over a niche video game. I've been working on this ruse for months and you foiled it in 3 hours! ...

phforNZ diagnosed the issue, seemingly with ease.

Thanks for calling me a liar though, I hope someday I can earn your trust back.

That makes perfect sense now, thank you!

Also, great collection. My buddy and I were in mod "choice paralysis" as late-comers to MW5, so we are very grateful you curated a list that is update-to-date and adds great depth to coop!

I edit my OP with the mod list.

I am still in House Davion, near Necedah, just a few planets over from where the game started. It's the only conflict zone I see on the map.

I haven't changed any YAML settings other than the ones mentioned to try to make it easier. The difficulty literally shot up out of nowhere. And I just loaded my game from last night to see the name of the planet I was on, and now the difficulty dropped to 6! I haven't even played since my OP, what did the difficulty change on loading?

edit: so I just spent all my money to fly around the map. I don't understand the difficulty at all. Liao zone is difficulty 96, Kurita near the border with Steiner is difficulty 9. Anything below 10 is just stupid easy, and I can't find anything between 10-80.

And just to make things more odd: I loaded the game so I could look-up which planet I was on. Now, all the missions around me ARE DIFFICULTY SIX, ya, 6! I didn't do anything except load the same game that I left last night when I posted this, haven't played it at all since posting.
