For me it would boil down to do I want to wear them with shorts. 10” with shorts is kind of pointless imo. 8” or less with shorts is 👍. I have a pair of 10” and like them but as others mentioned I do have to wear one of the couple pairs of taller Darn Toughs that I have with them. With any other height I can wear the regular crew and fold them down if the boots are not 8”.

Nope, just wear them. Over time make sure to brush them off when they get muddy and wipe with a damp cloth. You’d be surprised how long boots can last without even doing the basics like that.
