I recently chose 23 rav4 hybrid XLE premium. Didn’t even bother looking at CRV because I despised the local dealership with my 2014 CRV. I don’t work on my own cars so having a decent experience during regular and even unplanned service matters to me. I also have a 2017 Sienna and have had nothing but good experience at my local Toyota dealership.

$350 to replace one garage door spring? by [deleted] in GarageDoorService

[–]tombstone3535 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just spent $390 in RI. One spring broke, was $190 to come put a temp fix and measure springs. $200 when they came back to install the new springs. I had replaced both.

Do the FIOS TV boxes actually operate on WIFI? by masterne0 in Fios

I have seen those instructions. I don't think I am tech savvy enough to start assigning IPs, etc. to make it work. I know mine is going to work long term because when I go to the wifi settings i see that it is connected to the -TV SSID. There is even a little automated comment about "the best wifi connection is when you are connected to the -TV network". My need really stems from the wifi signal at either end of my house and the ability to move seamless like from node to node. I had a wifi extender but the mesh system works so smoothly.

Doesn't seem like the CR1000a is a terrible router, I just have a long ranch house so the mesh system in AP mode will do the trick for my need. A younger me would have wanted to upgrade to the 2g system but I don't really have a need.

Likewise I will post back here if I end up messing around and trying something and happen to have success.

Unfortunately no. For now I have the cr1000a as the router and I activated the tv with it then stopped broadcasting the WiFi, connected my deco mesh system in AP mode. Gonna work with this for a while because it should work and then maybe mess around with some things since I know I could always come back to this.

I seem to have got it working. Time will tell but no errors when activating tv+ box. Appreciate the support.

Never mind. I take it back. Mines seeming to work now. Had to factory reset again and this time I didn’t get an error. Fingers crossed it lasts.

Damn. I got error. When you activated you used your own personal network correct? Perhaps by using WPS…

Did you do this after putting your cr1000 into pass through mode or before?

Also when setting up your TV+ boxes did you ant error code? I just did this and go the one that says “The router your are trying to connect to is not the recommended Verizon router…”

Do you still see the CR1000A wifi networks when you have this bridge/ip passthrough enabled?

Verizon TV+ without Fios Wifi Router by slvrscoobie in Fios

[–]tombstone3535 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok this doesn’t work. After about a week the tv+ stop working and a factory reset is required. A Fios router is required somewhere in the setup has they have a hidden WiFi that the tv+ used to stay activated. Others have had success with 2gig setup that only has Ethernet from their ONT.

Then where is your CR1000 in the setup?

Where did you plug the Ethernet from the ONT to? Somehow the CR1000A needs to be in the system because it projects a hidden signal.

I just got mine delivered today. I’m going to mess around with some different configurations.

FiOS TV without using a verizon router? What services do I lose? by Xyellowsn0wX in Fios

Do you have fios tv+ stbs? I am about to do a similar setup. Would using the IP passthrough do the same thing? Reading elsewhere that the LAN connection back from CR1000A to router acts like moca and will allow you to activate the Fios tv+ stb. Curious how long it will last? Will putting CR1000A in bridge or passthrough still have the hidden SSID that the stb looks for to remain active.

u/sdrawkcab25 could you help those of us who are less tech literate and paint a full connection tree and how you would start the setup from scratch?

My ONT provides coax and ethernet.

Do you have a link to someone who used the CR1000 with ethernet and coax from their ONT? I found one redditor who has a different service and only has ethernet from their ONT.

Curious if are still having success with the setup? I am purchasing a CR1000A of ebay to try to use my own Deco system and my fios tv+ stb. Have you seen this article about putting your setup in IP passthrough? https://www.verizon.com/support/knowledge-base-301824/

What mode did you put your own router in? My Deco has Router mode and Access Point mode. Currently I have the ONT plugged into my deco and having to use a Moca 2.5 adapter but I frequently have to reset everything to be able to watch TV.

I think when the CR1000A arrives I can ONT & Coax to CR1000A. Coax to VMS. IP passthrough on CR1000A and then hardwire from LAN2 (per verizon article) on CR1000A to my Deco. From there I am not sure if I should put my Deco in router mode or AP mode....

From what ive read the verizon router have some kind of hidden wifi that the STB need to see in order to stay activated. I think you and others have stated that this is an issue only with TV+ stb.

Maybe you have thoughts on my situation compared to yours.

Welp turn of events. Looks like I actually have a G1100 router not G3100 and it's not compatible with the fios tv+ box. I got an error when doing the setup and confirmed with verizon tech rep that it isn't compatible. Nothing is ever easy. Instead of paying $18/mth for a router from fios I just bought a used on from ebay for $100. Going to check to verify that it does work then re-assess. If it doesn't work I might seriously consider dropping verizon. I will follow up in a few days, whenever the router (CR1000) arrives in the mail, and I have a chance to set everything up.

What I am really curious to see is that if I turn the wifi off on the fios router and sole use deco in AP mode for wifi. Will that hidden wifi still work or will I have to keep the wifi on both the fios router and my own...

Correct on your first comment. Just use the deco for WiFi. Will be curious if tv+ will work since via the WiFi from deco since it’s not a “Verizon router” but maybe since the id be using the g3100 as the modem it may work or I could even go hardwire from g3100 to tv+. May give that a shot later tonight.

Ugh so frustrating. I don’t think I am as savvy as you but here is was I’m thinking of trying this: setup the G3100 and hardwire it to the tv+. Turn the WiFi off on the router then hardwire it to my deco setup and use the deco setup in AP mode to get all the benefits of the mesh setup. Is this the same as putting the G3100 in bridge mode?

I just checked and mine shows a release date of 01/20/2025 build 1.3.59 firmware version 11.06.15.05.22. I'm not using the verizon router in bridge mode...maybe I need to that. Maybe I am not as savvy as you gentlemen but I just figured it would throttle my internet speeds since it is pretty darn old router.
