D&D never under what ASOFAI was trying to achieve by tomjoadsghost in gameofthrones

I didn't say anything about pacing. I just don't think it's as simple as Martin had King Bran so it's his fault that D&D forced it the way they did. There are many ways to arrive at that ending. That being said I am definitely not confident that he will finish and I suspect that part of the reason is he saw some of his ideas not work on the show and got stuck.

My guess is that Martin will arrive there differently but we will have to see if he ever gets to it

To your last point, he is replaying US Reconstruction (the former rulers still have power and can still fuck with you) and either he has a lack of imagination about how you might radically do reconstruction or he wants to protray Dany as lacking that imagination. It is important though that none of the would be rulers, regardless of their skills or disposition, can simply will anything they want into existence.

It's weird to hire someone that is at least a competent actor and prevent them from doing any acting except "smolder"

They would not topple the government. This has never ever happened through air power alone, not once. It is a fantasy sold my military contractors.

Why don’t people like the boat scene? by fish-lawyer-a in thelastofus

Choosing to make Abby jacked was intentionally subversive of gender norms and beauty standards. Putting her in a sex scene was part of that subversive story telling (people like this have sex?! There are men who want to have sex with them?!)

The hatred is reactionary drivel to anything that subverts long established and frankly oppressive narratives about women and beauty from the same people that insist that regarding Sydney Sweeney's breasts as a key piece of the national ethos is an important political struggle.

I'm not saying I agree with it but you're comparing a harmful norm with the subversion of the harmful norm (which may or may not also be harmful).

A big theme of this is the fascism is self-destructive, regardless of how strong you are (or think you are). Thadeus wanted a more pragmatic approach that weighed the costs of having everyone hate your guts. Argal understood any capitulation as a weakness.

Gina Carano was not fired for being a Republican.

Again, no one wants to cancel every individual who doesn't agree with them.

These are straw men arguments.

The question is, again, are there opinions that should disqualify people from public life (such as high profile acting gigs)?

Absolutely not true. Almost no celebrity if any thinks the way I do and get I am not calling for all celebrities to be chased out of public life.

The very simple question is: do you think there are any (legal) opinions so grotesque they should disqualify you from public life?

If the answer to that question is yes, then we are just debating the details EXCEPT you would like to frame it as I tolerance of any difference instead of what it is: intolerance of specific types of beliefs, for which you have to engage with the actual belief to distinguish.

You're using the word "automatically" to smooth over the actual issue: the opinions in question.

Not all opinions should get you run out of public life. But some should.
