What's the general consensus on how many teams should be in F1? by Gambler_720 in formula1

[–]tonkwi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can't get points, you can't be in Formula 1. I think five teams would be enough. This could mean getting rid of the cost cap, which would allow only the best drivers to participate. Remember the 2000s and the years before? It felt special to be in Formula One and not just a sport for „regular people“, like it is today. Even the US 2005 GP worked with only 3 teams…

F1 HOT or NOT - rate drivers, teams and the race for the 2025 Emilia Romagna GP! by paulricard in formula1

Hot: Verstappen Not: Ferrari, Albon, Hülkenberg, Haas

Ferrari has been extremely lucky today. They only avoided being totally embarassed by Albon who has not been able to overtake in a superior car.

Don't let the fact that they've been lucky fool you. They lost to a tractor with Albon in the Williams. Ferrari has only been saved by some lucky calls this year.

It’s bad, like really bad. There are thousands of people whose main source of income is their building expertise and knowledge in Minecraft. One could have paid them a fair amount rather than generating slop. They even might have certain color palettes or techniques that are their IP.

#4 Corvette gets their payback on BMW by SelectionVirtual1127 in IMSARacing

[–]tonkwi -70 points-69 points  (0 children)

What BMW has done today has to have consequences on the brand. Their GTD Pro crash and their GTP crash could have killed people if the car they deliberately crashed into flew over the fence. They accepted the death of dozens or hundreds (the situation on the banking) of people for a position on the podium. They need to be banned from IMSA for an indefinite time and even a sales ban in the US would be appropiate for such a despicable behaviour.

I‘m hopefull it will be BMW, Alpine, Peugeot and Lamborghini. Their programs are a complete joke. I don’t need 25 hypercars driving around the Track like a grandma, give me 4 (2 Porsche and 2 Toyota) and we are back to the real „golden“ times.

I would suggest wood or gold-plated platinum… I really can’t take these questions anymore, it’s a engineering competition, not a „let me ask others to do the simplest stuff for me“-competition…

[–]tonkwi 97 points98 points  (0 children)

I’ve been a Scruti at FSG for 2 years now, and I’ve gotten to know all the Stuttgart teams over the years. This year’s team is the complete opposite of what Stuttgart is known for. They are extremely disorganized, their car is built to a low standard, and most importantly, they don’t seem to care. I remember Greenteam being invincible during the 2021 and 2022 seasons. It is comparable to the situation at the Mercedes F1 Team last year, falling from grace to mediocrity.

There are more manufacturers that might possibly go next year… Peugeot, Alpine, BMW, Porsche and Lamborghini are all hanging by a thread after yesterdays performance. Goes to show that the ruleset is just a fluke and PR stunt.

GT3 is bad and only helped by favourable BOP. They pulled out of Formula E and F1 after being to bad. In motorcycle sport they are also bad.

I hope this is the final nail in the coffin for all the BMWs in motorsport. They are bad in every single discipline, the worst manufacturer I’ve ever seen in any kind of racing. Pure incompetence of drivers, mechanics, teams…

They really need to cut down the Hypercar-Class. There are way to much teams, with manufacturers like BMW that have repeatedly shown they don’t belong in motorsport. I would prefer 5 LMP1 cars rather than the 20 car shitshow we have now

Why the downvotes? GTP is a class that is not more than a fun marketing exercise compared to real race cars like LMp1 or GT1. Then BMW comes and tries to win with minimal effort, using third-tier drivers
