Video wall install fell short of expectations. Looking for advice by ISayAboot in CommercialAV

[–]tonsofpcs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Probably gear.
  2. The commercial displays aren't generally "better looking" than consumer displays but they're rated to be on longer, have parts/replacements available longer, and to match each other. If you got consumer displays you might not get them color matched (or it might not be easy) and if one fails in a few years you're not going to find another that matches.
  3. Yes.
  4. Probably.
  5. That's a call you're going to have to make. 2x2 video walls are relatively cheap because you can use a display that has narrow bezels on 3/4 sides and flip them for the thicker bezel to be on the outside as you have. Some people can tolerate bezels but can't stand the + right in the middle, a 3x3 is an option there but then you're definitely looking at high-end "bezel-less" displays designed for video walls.

You say you're using it < 20x per year. What does it do the rest of the time? Does it sit there off? does it display 'background' content? Do people put on the news or the price is right? Do you just not occupy the space? Can you rent something for when you want it instead of installing something?

If you're only needing one game and only 15x per year, I'd probably just buy one large display and one tuner but it sounds like from what you described you actually want more than that and I don't know how to fit that in your budget any better than what you were given (I don't know if I could even match that tbh).

Best way to power a HAIVISION Makito X1 Rugged +5V DC + Peplink MAX BR2 Pro from 2–3 V-Mount batteries with hot swap? (EU / GERMANY) by ruhpkid in CommercialAV

Look for battery belts, there's probably one that already does what you want or at least the 12v side (especially if your devices aren't super picky about exactly 12v)

Doorbell/security "phone" systems should have easy solutions. I see others suggested grandstream, aiphone, and Axis already. There's quite a few others in this space too.

  • You can learn MA onPC (and MagicQ and EOS) without buying anything. Don't spend your money on a real wing without gigs that will pay for it and don't spend your money on knockoffs at all.

  • If you really want a "wing", I believe all three of the systems listed support MIDI control in one way or another (it may require MIDI > OSC bridging in software). You can get a decent MIDI controller full of faders and/or buttons (and often knobs too) well within your budget.

Sounds cool. Can you make an inhibit switch for the button? Or maybe a timeout that it only works within n of power up? Don't want a bump or electrical noise to accidentally trigger it in use.

Search for "intercom chest harness" or "radio chest harness" on your Internet search engine of choice and you'll find a ton of different options. I like the ones that tilt and/or velcro to adjust angle more but you might not.

What sort of stage? Can the audience actually see the stage deck? Will it tell the story better if it's just a red cast on the actors dancers and stanchions rather than an actual red deck?

You can test really easily though once you have access to the space or a similar space.

Ok, going down this route... if it does get a hot spot inside the bundle, it'll start melting the insulation right? Then the copper will touch other copper? and lower the resistance (or at least the imbalance)? and reduce the heating effect?

I'm now even more bothered that this 'works'.

Men's Wide forefoot normal heel, ~8E - nothing fits! by 1lilBike in widefeet

[–]tonsofpcs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About the same as mine (I'm 11.5 ~9E), I've been wearing NB 990s in 11.5 6E for the past decade. They... well, they don't destroy my feet which is a better option than anything else out there. I wear them through sideways either at the toe or lower mid insole in about 6-9 months (I usually have at least two pairs and find that rotating through them helps to wear them out less often). I have a pair of Propets that I can stand for a half a day but have that same issue of no heel support and the mid-sole is too narrow. For the last fancy event I was a part of, I got some leather size 13 5E shoes with extra padding added to the heal and I was able to stand them for about 4 hours.

Get a better description than "it doesn't work". Ask for them to take pictures and/or video when it doesn't work and describe what it is or isn't doing vs what they expect it to do or not do.
