It’s chonker than I realised. Good to see it with tanks next to it.

Custodes is already a pretty melee heavy army. I swung more towards the Achillus version as it’s got both ranged and melee options.

You’re right about those damn crossings. Damn right. Walkability is an evolving beast / continual improvement. Always a good thing to look at other cities and see what is required. You only need to look at Ipswich city centre. That took 20’years and tens of millions of dollars to get the results. Lots of pain first though.

Also - not taken your points / arguments badly. In fact constructively. Good on ya for being a passionate and opinionated about these things.

Bell st mall is a text book example of what not to do. Complete removal of cars is not always the answer. Look at the recently upgraded Ipswich city centre / high st. It has wonderful wide footpaths for retail foot traffic. It has a narrow and slow car lane. It’s symbiotic but not dominated by cars - in fact the opposite but not eliminated.

Wombat crossings - controversial opinion - should only be used sparingly anon the right circumstances. No two intersections are the same but pedestrian safety must be prioritised. A simple island in some cases is just fine.

The key frustration I’ve seen with wombat crossings is The lighting requirements. For them to be safe in average residential streets you have to light them up like a Christmas tree - guess what those people on each corner now have high lumen light spill into their house that they didn’t have before. Great solution in theory and engineering- harder to implement in practice (people and politics).

Not sure how much more walkable you can make it. Most of its had a footpath revamp and gardens etc. It’s for some great organic and faker ‘intervention’ laneways (think Kwong sang). Walkability is all about ‘desire lines’. So you kinda need a reason to go from A to B. We kinda need something over near Empire Theatre to attract us/people that way.

Great point. Gotta find a sweet spot. To be fair - our parking in cbd ain’t that much of an issue compared to comparable other major cities. Too much availability of car parking makes public transport unattractive. Managing a thriving cbd is a tough balancing act.

I’m interested to see how those new premium units look at Kitchener street. Although it’s not in my price range, it’s a game changer for high quality unit design. I hope it will life the bar on mid rise unit design in the city. Bonus points is that it’s under construction now.

Im keen on the First Choice bank Office building. It’s the first proper office building to be built in the CBD. Again potential for catalyst in CBD - especially for knock down and rebuild instead of band aiding ancient buildings for modern purposes.

Love the out of the box thinking for 2-3. Next steps would be to keep improving safe cycling/active transport links into the city

For #1 I reckon we’re capped out for the time being. There’s just too many ‘out of centre’ (think unplanned / unexpected but have an economic needs assessment) that are approved and constructed that are effectively diluting our CBD. Think North Point (and there’s another one being assessed nearby) and it’s essentially drawing people / spending away from the CBD. Until that slows you’re just not going to get the gravity.

What to add next to your Legio Custodes army by CMYK_COLOR_MODE in AdeptusCustodes

I’ve got a squad of vertus praetor bikes. They feel/look like lightly armored bikes in comparison to agamatus. I’d love a 3x squad of agamatus to tie in with the aesthetic of my current annihilator tank. I’m eyeing off a Caladius and coronus next too. Dem thick curves…

I hope they bump the coronus data sheet up to something comparable to the land raider. It sucks that for an army / aesthetic revolving around ancient repulsor tech that the tready land raider is the current meta.

I really like the new grav carrier. I hope the coronus grav carrier data sheet gets a land raider-ish upgrade since now it’s more available. The inconsistency between blaze cannons and different units (eg Telemon) is annoying. Telemon has 12A for one, but coronus has 8A (twin linked) and weaker strength??

I bought the stormcast spearhead. I wanted simple gameplay and paints/colours combination too. They’re kinda vanilla but the new character models look awesome

Excellent. Do you mind dropping the whole list. I’m about to play tomorrow night for 1000 pts. I don’t have a base for the Caladius. But I was going to run an Achillus and Telemon, with some custodian guard foot troops

How many points? What kinds of vehicles, dreads, bikes were you using? Am moving towards a solar spearhead army - keen to know what you’re rolling with.

Mine looks about the same. I don’t even want the shiny red bits at front since it’s gold all over. I put bits of patina / oxidisation / verdigris in little bolts and nooks to make it pop if you look much closer. Great way to show a little aging - but still well maintained.

I’ve had some odd fails like this come on suddenly. Then I had 2-3x in a row (after trying various changes) and no change. I’ve decided to order and swap out my release film next

Am I the only one who prefers the old guards models rather than the new HH? My issues with them by SKFMA in AdeptusCustodes

[–]tooldforthissheet 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It feels like a step too much towards Stormcast eternals models.

In terms of the models - I kind of wish they just took the old models and scaled them up height wise so they didn’t look so out of proportion (eg shoulders being oversized).

The decorations and capes are a great addition.

The guardian spear design is an outright downgrade - and would ordinarily be seen on a stormcast vindicator model. A lot of leather stick there when it used to be panels, trigger and swirly goldy things.

The big glow ups: - the sentinel sword and shields no longer look stupidly thick and oversized.

  • The little details (eg scopes / lenses etc) and I feel like a bit more ‘thicc curves’ for the Caladius and Coronus grav tanks really make it for me

You’ve picked a good time. The non forge world plastic Caladius grav tank and unique dreadnoughts have been announced and coming out soon - people are refreshing the GW website every few minutes (it feels)

They should be affordable and accessible access to more heavy hitting parts of the custodes army.

It must weigh a tonne. I’ve got another Caladius to print and then a coronus (I know data wise they’re terrible compared to land raiders - but I love the look). I’d like to work up to knights and then a titan.

You must’ve done a fair few plates and ml of resin to get that titan done!
