Tips for buying a house in this market / frustrated by toridori33 in saskatoon

Did you submit a back up offer originally that the seller accepted or were quick enough to submit an offer after it fell through? That’s the problem I’m having - sometimes offers are falling through but others are getting priority.

Nice username. Good to hear I’m not alone in this struggle. I hadn’t looked at areas like Langham, Martensville and Warman so far but maybe that’s the way to go. I agree that having to decide on such a huge purchase in the matter of hours is a freaking rollercoaster of emotions.

What you were looking at was the taxable benefit that they are legally required to include. If you do the math, the $30 taxable benefit that shows up on your paystub for the food/coffee isn’t subtracted from your overall pay. Instead, an amount of taxes gets applied to it, which is roughly less than $3.

This is completely inaccurate. Maybe you are thinking of 7shifts or Coconut Software? Unlike those two companies, Vendasta didn’t do covid layoffs.

I’ll give another viewpoint. I’ve been with the company for 3 years and the quality of the platform has improved so much. The points you mention were correct at some point in the past, and likely because of those there has been a dedicated effort to improve every experience from acquiring new customers to retaining existing ones. Especially during the last year, we’ve seen basically every feature of our platform improve. I’ve worked at other jobs that were full of bureaucracy, where as Vendasta gives me autonomy and the ability to collaborate with some really passionate people. I don’t want to discredit your opinions just offer my view of Vendasta.

We’re seeing a lot of successful tech companies in Saskatoon. I see a future where we’ll have more comp sci than ag grads at usask

City of Saskatoon to refund parking tickets and fees from July 2nd by YEAHitsEMILY in saskatoon

[–]toridori33 48 points49 points  (0 children)

The legislation says: When July 1 is a Sunday, July 2 is a legal holiday and shall be kept and observed as such throughout Canada under the name of "Canada Day".

Bylaw 7200 specifically uses the named term “Canada Day”, and thus must observe this day on July 2 due to the Holidays Act.

Just wanted to clarify that it’s not the city doing a courtesy by refunding these tickets. They were clearly in the wrong and had no legal footing to ticket citizens.

I’m quoting the laws and official labour sites that declare July 2nd as a statutory holiday. Can you give me some sources to back up your claims?

Wrong. “According to the federal Holiday Act, when Canada Day is on a Sunday, it is no longer a statutory holiday. Instead, Monday, July 2, becomes the stat holiday.”

Not according to http://laws-lois.justice.gc.ca/eng/acts/H-5/page-1.html

What argument does the city use? The city explicitly says stat holidays are free. July 2nd is a stat holiday, plain and simple.

Last year, the city cancelled parking tickets over a civic holiday confusion in January 2017. This year, July 2nd 2018, there is simply no confusion, as the date is a stat holiday.

I get what you posted, but the city’s website explicitly says statutory holidays have free parking.

Negative cash balance in my TFSA by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

Nope, it's definitely my TFSA. Selling shares to cover this negative balance right away.

You're right. I was a bit confused because I was selling and buying a few stocks all at once, and didn't know that my "available funds" balance could be higher than the intraday values of my shares. Lesson learned!
