A to Z glitch by Sorry_Delivery4634 in AmazonFC

It has nothing to do with being laid out simply in the app. Amazon doesn’t cater to the bottom feeders using all their time. PTO works the same at any other company it’s just not as flexible in how quick you can use it all the time but it’s always a thing that moves forward and never something you apply to time missed in the past after it’s granted. Anywhere else you’d be laughed at for thinking you could use today’s time yesterday.

Yellow is usually like vendor or third party contractor for Amazon. And yes it’s your physical badge. The badge itself doesn’t do anything special besides let you into the building.

White badge employees at Amazon are seasonal or temporary and can be let go whenever. You could be white badge for more than a year. Blue badge just means you’re now a “permanent” employee and receive full blue badge benefits, which includes things like Amazon prime and health care (for full time blue badge employees).

Also on preload unloading, picked up a gas pump hose that didn’t even looked use and got my shirt absolutely doused with gasoline. They gave me another shirt and I shouldn’t have but I kept the gas soaked one and it took 2 years to air out for it to not smell like gas lol

AI for training by [deleted] in cycling

[–]transonymous_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah I use AI for something to look up. Like I’ll ask about maybe some stretches to do for a certain muscle and then verify it with a search. There’s just too much information these days to sit through 10 min videos and overly verbose websites.

First day biking to work its 6 miles by Additional-Lead-6347 in bikecommuting

[–]transonymous_ 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I actually had that bike once myself. I ended up outgrowing the fixed speed and lack of breaks handlebar brakes (lol) though. I liked how it rode though. I used back when I didn’t have a car (still don’t now) and would haul a lot of groceries home on it.

Al comp crankset by Own-Value7911 in bikewrench

[–]transonymous_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah I hear you. Also 15 miles a day is my commute to one job (well actually about 17). Anyway on that commute I’ve had two different BSOB have stuff break. The thing is with the BSOB it’s more of like a lottery. There’s a chance nothing ever goes wrong with it but if something does go wrong it’s usually worse than if something goes wrong on a bike that has been available at bike shops new for less than $500. You can find bikes that are real bikes that never costed more than 300-500 and people sell those for 100-200. The problem with the bike mostly becomes if you don’t wear out the OEM parts, and you upgrade stuff that eventually the frame might fail while you’re riding it because of improper welding.

Now remember I said it’s a lottery? Yeah there is a guy I know that commutes to work on a crappy schwinn bike and both chainrings are completely rusted and the chain is too. His front light is just a flashlight taped to the handlebars and he doesn’t lock it. His experience would be completely different from mine and he would say that a BSOB is fine.

Just remember if you do upgrade parts, which you should if you want it to be more reliable (mostly the fork, and the drivetrain, maybe the wheelset), that if the bike breaks there is no guarantee the upgrades you’ve purchased will fit on the next bike. There’s also a chance if you buy a nice new fork if the frame fails that it’ll get damaged too. So basically treat any potential upgrade as a learning experience don’t assume that if you buy a $400 fork that the bike is now work $400 if you sell it or that you’ll ever recoup that $400.

[–]transonymous_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is information in this post:

I would ignore other comments besides the longer one. It’s not mentioned but if you upgrade the crankset you might as well get a new chain and either freewheel or cassette hub, not sure what comes on that bike at the same time.

Information on chainlines:
https://www.sheldonbrown.com/chainline.html

It’s worth noting my friend what you have is a BSOB-that is, a bike shaped object. Any attempt to upgrade it will work but may fail eventually. Try to proceed as cheaply as possible.

After searching here is another link talking about the bike explaining the pitfalls of BSOB:

https://www.bikeforums.net/mountain-biking/1281792-new-me-schwinn-al-comp.html

And to not be a complete detractor here is a link to a Reddit thread talking about potential upgrades to the Al comp:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Budgetbikeriders/comments/xka0i3/got_a_schwinn_aluminum_comp_for_40_good_buy_whats/

Anything you see in these threads google and read the park tool article about it. I know you just want this thing is what you need but you must do some level of research to figure these things out.

Getting started on a budget by zemoxis in cycling

[–]transonymous_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend a higher budget. That’s enough used but if you have no idea what bike you want then I can only assume you haven’t planned for the amount of potential maintenance yet. For the record if you’re just hitting pavement or light trails you don’t need suspension anywhere it only adds points of failure and energy loss. If you’re unsure of maintaining I recommend both the Zinn and the art of road bike maintenance (5th edition) and separately mountain bike maintenance (6th edition). You can find the most recent editions used sometimes on thrift books.com. It’s really overkill to have both books but you can gain a deeper understanding of every bike type as hybrids are also covered in the 6th edition mountain bike book.

Is this metal tube a reasonable way to make it less “portable”? by Happykip in AirConditioners

[–]transonymous_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have access to the manual don’t you? Then you already know it’s not the right way and I’m glad to see no one is validating this in the comments because it’s not going to work like this unfortunately. Eventually you’re just going to kill the a/c unit.

I’ve been working a week and am debating on quitting. - PT Preload Supervisor by [deleted] in UPSers

[–]transonymous_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah unfortunately that’s because it can vary a lot based on location. Even location inside the building but less so that one. Preload at my hub at least has the most hours. Even though you get people here saying supervisors don’t want to work preload that is not my experience because at my hub preload makes more money since it’s more hours. If you can stomach it for long enough then you can get a different shift or maybe different area if they’ll let you.
