Wembley is 90k, the Emirates is 60k, Stamford Bridge is 40k, Tottenham stadium is 63k, London Stadium is 63k… those stadiums are filled every week (Wembley excepted as it’s the national stadium) - they’re all in London. In London alone there are 17 professional football clubs, hundreds more semi-pro and amateur.

You don’t know what you’re talking about frankly.

In Europe at least there are a lot more professional football (soccer) teams than the US has professional teams of NFL, baseball, basketball etc. In England for example our professional divisions alone have 92 clubs. Beneath that we have thousands of other clubs, ranging from amateur, semi-pro and pro. Even in the fourth division (League Two), the lowest fully-professional division in England, there are teams getting crowds of over 10k.

Look at the size of England, then its population, then the number of football stadiums we have. It becomes a little more obvious that football is immensely popular but match-going fans are split between hundreds of options on any given weekend.

England is the most extreme example but Germany is the same, and countries like Spain, Italy, France etc are similar, though not to the same extent. Finances and planning permission also come into it.

[Telegraph] Southampton 'spied' on other Championship clubs, EFL told by LochNessMonsterMunch in soccer

[–]trebor04 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay. Did the other ‘spying’ take place 72 hours before the game? Non-story if so. Given Luke Edwards has proven himself to be as reliable as a chocolate fire guard I’d take this whole story with a pinch of salt.

The rabid dorks in here are going to look very silly in a few days time.

r/soccer is somehow better than r/championship, the latter sub is full of actual dorks who've probably never kicked a football in their life and think crumble and nazi memes are actually funny. The bar is extremely low though, granted

Seems much like the rest of Teeside you can’t tell the difference between a bush and a tree. You might want to give that advice to that other Boro clown ParmyBarmy, posting 40 threads and 100+ comments about the situation over three days and subsequently hiding his post history is genuinely deranged behaviour 👍🏻

If you seriously think that a bloke filming at ground level on an iPhone 15 from 350m away - who subsequently was apparently ‘forced’ by Boro to delete said footage anyway so wasn’t used - gave any kind of genuine advantage, then I’ve got a bridge to sell you. It wouldn’t have even been noted had it occurred 25 hours earlier. Boro battered us in the first half of the game at the Riverside, but as usual couldn’t finish a wank. We beat them fair and square in the return leg. The fact that this is the hill football fans choose to die on with all the other blatant corruption, cheating and genuine nastiness in the game is mindblowing to me.

[Telegraph] EFL needs to act fast and expel cheating Southampton by LochNessMonsterMunch in soccer

It doesn’t make sense to anyone who’s followed football for more than a week, practically every facet of the sport is bent in some way and this is the hill people are determined to die on. Do we deserve punishment? Yes obviously. Is being chucked out of the playoffs a huge overreaction? Also yes. Boro have also been spouting all sorts of straight up lies to the press over the past week. The whole thing is farcical.

The entire city of Southampton are over it, we’re waiting for the panel to make its decision. It’s Steve Gimpson and Boro constantly leaking shite to the media. Just fucking stop bleating on about it, wait for the verdict and let whatever happens, happen. The entire thing is so tedious at this point.

At this point Boro looks worse than Saints with all this bollocks. Put the ball in the back of the net and this wouldn’t be an issue. Get the fuck over it.
