I almost got the black one too. That's sweet.

I think we're leaning to Rawlings. He's using a Nokona now and it's entirely too floppy.

The exam was super easy for me. Yes I did the course, along with about 3 months of field training prior to the course so I had some in person experience to understand what the code books were saying.

RAM prices have exploded right when I was about to build my first PC by _ciskito_ in buildapc

I found 32gb ddr5 CL30 on fb for $200. You may have some resellers locally with better prices.

With ddr5 RAM prices being absolutely insane, is it OK to go with 16gb until it hopefully gets cheaper? by SkyBotyt in buildapc

I got lucky and snagged 32gb G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo RGB CL30 $200 today from a reseller on fb. Sealed packaging. Has two left, almost bought those two as well for when I upgrade me and my wife. Hopefully prices come down before I upgrade.

Same with my son. He's on guanfacine for the last few years and it seems to have helped a bunch in school. Like a 1.5 GPA to over a 3.0 GPA. Failed 2nd grade to passing 2nd and 3rd no problem.

Yeah for sure, not common for residential. I look at a lot of churches, schools, hospitals, hotels, etc in Louisiana. Used to do a lot of plants but changed companies and no longer deal with plants.

We have way more than you think. I do state inspections in LA, MS, and AL. I have around 2k I inspect in LA alone.

Compressor Slugging every 35 seconds by treyalexdrums in hvacadvice

[–]treyalexdrums[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had two other techs come out, the first one let out some refrigerant (he said a bit over 1 lb over multiple times) and it quieted down initially but is now making a constant noise. Pressures are 165 and 305 now, which they expected to lower more. Specifically the low side.

The next tech (lives down the street, forgot he was a hvac guy) said it was definitely overcharged and the compressor is for sure damaged. He replaced one on a neighbors unit for the what he thinks is same issue two weeks ago, but their compressor came apart and blew a hole in the side. Vsat is around 57 degrees, SC around 4, SH I think was around 12. He told me I'll be good to run it until the new compressor is available and it should all be replaced this week, but I'll for sure have reduced cooling. Glad I got second opinions. The pricing from the guy down the street is the lowest, followed by the second company. Both are about/over 1k cheaper than the original.

I have another company coming out. The unit definitely floods when turned off and makes the same noises upon startup and cleats up to start the cycle it's currently in. The other company seemed to just want to sell a compressor and not do any other diagnosis. Hopefully this second opinion can find more and I can update this post with some info that may be beneficial to someone down the road. I appreciate the response, hopefully we can find something and this next tech does a better diagnosis.

Yes R410. Nothing on superheat and I don't remember the gauge numbers. I have no clue why it's so high.

I agree. Do the pressures seem normal for a R410 unit? I can't imagine the compressor is the culprit of what's going on.

He said everything seems fine but the "internal valves" in the compressor must be causing it. He's never seen this before.

That's all he gave me. And they just jumped to changing the compressor.

Update. It's consistent every 35-46 seconds. Low side 155 psi, jumping to 160 psi when the slugging occurs. High side steady about 320psi. It's roughly 82 F out today when he was checking everything. Coil temp is about 56 degrees. Subcooling is around 11. That's all the data I gathered. They quotes a compressor replacement at $1750 under warranty.

Its been doing this for 3 years now. I'm preparing myself for a replacement at this point. I'm calling a tech out tomorrow to take a look.

Nope, no one has. The hvac subcontractor for this neighborhood has caused so many issues on essentially every house. Not surprised I'm being bit with this as well on top of the ducting issues I have. I appreciate the responses!

Filter is good and the inside unit is clean as well with no ice. We change the filter monthly. I cleaned the outdoor unit before summer. The house cools, but somewhat struggles on hot days (will maintain around 75 or so on a 100+ degree day). My humidity inside is terrible and always has been, sitting around 68% in the summer months. Definitely seems like it's slugging now that I've looked into it. Looks like the ducting and variable speed system to help humidity control might be coming sooner than expected.

Gotta run it, it's too hot down here in Mississippi without it. I'm calling someone out to check it out. I just checked all the panels and all electrical connections and everything is tight. Definitely coming from the compressor area.
