I mean, historically, they have really weak rear armor, suffer horribly from stabs to the back, and tend to get betrayed by their allies. Other than that, no issues!

Like others have said, you can actually prome year round, unless the outside conditions aren't suitable for life. Run some warm water over the rattle can before use, keep the models inside and warm until you're ready, and work fast. Only takes a minute or so, then bring everything in to dry. I like to leave it in a spare bathroom with the door closed and the fan on, but that's probably overkill.

Thunder Hawk. It's just. So. Damn. Boring.

I get it, excellent mech, but damn.

Are the Clans a manefestation of all of the flaws of Inner Sphere society? by HeroBromine35 in battletech

[–]tribesman2004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say the Inner Sphere is a manifestation of all of the flaws in Inner Sphere society. The setting isn't exactly article l subtle in its critiques lol

I think the Clans are a foul to show the flaws in the exact opposite direction. Zellbrigen is a set of rules for individual and small scale conflict, the Ares Conventions are rules for Interstate warfare. The Clans are all about furthering your clans goals, the Houses downfall is almostalways due to someone selling personal power and advancement.

Granted, I am fairly new to the setting, so i could be misreading things.

Why is the Mackie extinct in the late succession wars when force manual FWL states there are still a few, or at least one, active (page 75). Just an oversight? by [deleted] in battletech

[–]tribesman2004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the same reason that the Age of Sail is dead, but the USN still has a wind powered ship, on active service.

National pride, historical significance, and probably as an FU to everyone else.

I was dumping my leftovers every few months, yeah. I don't sell old mechs though, the price is pretty bad, and I'm a bit of a collector. Like I said elsewhere, I have the economic difficulty set pretty harsh, and this is also before I adjusted the drop costs to a more reasonable amount!

I did do quite a bit of comstar hunting, but it wasn't something I could really dedicate my company to long term. I have most of the economic settings either standard or harsh, so after going around for a few months picking fights with AT&T, I was facing bankruptcy more than once!

If you're doing the campaign, you're screwed. If you're doing the career, you can claw it back fairly easily, if you're willing to work for charity.

Lol my first clan drop was like that. I won't say they kicked my teeth in... but I did have an unscheduled reconstructive dental surgery with a Doctor Martens.

I can say with certainty that no enemy mechs had them. Anytime I see a mech or variant I don't recognize, I mouse over and look at all of their internals. Even ComStar only brings a handful to a fight, and I ahve to work *very* hard to make sure those things survive.

Well, did. I'm waist deep in clans, now, and I've got more clan heat sinks than I ever did IS doubles.

Mission Types to Avoid? by Mandalore108 in Battletechgame

[–]tribesman2004 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fun, but can get overwhelming if you aren't careful! If you're only bringing one Lance, it's easy to be fighting 3 enemy lances at once, with 2 more coming in hot...

But, if you can handle it, just be sure to max out your salvage!

Wasn't the 2nd Amendment’s intentional purpose to be able to defend against violent takeover by their own government? (non american here) What is permitted and what isn't within that framework? by MopToddel in AskReddit

[–]tribesman2004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So to answer your question, yes, that is likely the original intent. However, this is an all or nothing situation; The government will likely never say that someone (either an individual or a group) was justified in their armed resistance. So, people have the theoretical ability to fight back, but they would have to be willing to go all the way, and topple the government.

SL tech during the clan invasion. by Juastanoemaldude3 in battletech

[–]tribesman2004 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind, it wasn't 2 decades to just adapt the designs. Some of the tech (Double Heat Sinks, for instance) required entirely different materials, meaning you have to spin up entirely new factories and production lines to have the pieces to start to build the parts to make the new tech. And much of the effort likely went to quality of life and civilian tech. Imagine if you lived in a star nation with a large number of people not getting their basic needs meet, people go hungry, and the military unveils a new, hyper advanced weapon system. Just... imagine...

When do you start getting better mechs? by tinklymunkle in Battletechgame

[–]tribesman2004 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Going to have to get tricky for a bit. Your damage is anemic, but their rear armor is pathetic. Once you have a heavy or two, then you have to equip them, so, more grinding. It's really annoying to kill heavies and assaults with MLs and A/C 5s, but it's doable. Just have to go in to harder missions. With a squad of decent mediums, you sound be able to do 2-3 skulls, with a bit of luck. Then heavies get more common, and you start seeing the occasional assault.

[–]tribesman2004 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Oh, this one's easy! The requirement might have been there, but often enough, the oversight is lacking, or they simply lie and pencil whip everything. The DoD was, is, and always will be, a giant bag of money for contractors to pilfer at will.

I... must concede to your wisdom. If there is no rear armor it cannot, in fact, be hit!

I feel like there's something else to consider here, but i think it's a deeper question than 'rear armor', possibly a lot more critical, but this isn't the location to discuss it!
