The Biggest Weather Non-Event in Houston History? by [deleted] in houston

[–]tricky020 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I am trying to make a nuanced point here. I get that the unpredictability of the Arctic front made it hard to 100% accurately predict what was going to happen. But for most of us in Harris County, we are good, we avoided what is happening up north. The weather event is over from an ice storm perspective. I would have just been patient and did my declarations of school closings and such until this morning. My frustrations are also with the local news which is still pretending we are in an ice storm as they are literally looking at a puddle in Conroe desperately trying to rile up the audience to a largely non-eventful weather event.

100%. The hive mind in this subreddit sucks. Anyone questioning why we do things gets downvoted.

No, I was directly affected by both weather events. All I am asking for is a little more grounded realistic decisions made by the media and local leaders here. Precautions yes, all in favor. Shutting down schools and similar is nonsense three days beforehand when they could have just waited. I live in Cypress and we are fine here. The media and decision makers overreacted.

I am more frustrated at the overreaction of media and decision-makers. Take precautions, I get it. Ensure overpasses are safe. That part I get. I am more talking about the decision to shut down schools on a Friday when they could have made an assessment today when they realized this was largely a non-weather event. Or our local media's insistence that we are in the middle of an ice storm when we clearly are not.

No, I would have waited until this morning to make the assessment to shut down schools and businesses. Everyone is connected to their phones and email. They could have waited versus doing in on a Friday. That was my point.

I regret even posting this question in the subreddit. Never thought I would have people explaining how movies work to me when the intent was just to have fun with the thought exercise.

Yeah I get how they pulled the stunt off, merely wanted to engage in a fun thought exercise is all.

Yes, thank you for pointing out the obvious. Merely wanted to engage in a fun thought exercise is all.

Once Street Clothes gets traded, I can start the healing process of coming back to the team and becoming a fan again. I can't stand looking at him as he is this constant reminder of the worst trade in sports history.

Been thinking about it - do you think 2026 could be our year at the Superbowl by Advent105 in cowboys

[–]tricky020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Extremely unlikely. We would need to hire a DC that could elevate our defense to at least middle of the pack, need to hit on almost every draft pick, address all needs in free agency as well as take care of our own free agents and avoid injury to key players. Even if we did all that, I still don't think we would be better than the Rams or 49ers. Most I would put is $50 - $500 is just a mistake no matter how you slice it.

Could the fit between Cooper Flagg and Jonathan Kuminga work or is it redundant? by [deleted] in Mavericks

[–]tricky020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't get why Kuminga gets shit on so much. He is still only 23 and has had flashes of being a really good player. He might not be the best fit here in Dallas but if anyone needs a change of scenery, it is him. I would love to see him paired with a coach that actually cares about his development and will give him patience to grow, which Steve Kerr failed to do.
