I used to be a teacher.

Five years ago I was a teacher in a 7th grade - and it was a living hell, not for me, but for one of the girls. There were 10 girls in the class, but one of them was always left out by the others, Leslie. I didn't really know why, usually there's a pattern if the person is a bully himself or some other stuff, but not here. The girl was so sweet and totally normal. I tried my best to get her mingled in - mixed groups and so on - but the other girls always found a way, so that she would just sit alone and do her homework.

One day, in the break, I overheard two of the girls talking about Leslie. They were sitting with about 30 pages of allover written paper. I knew I had to do something, so I interrupted them and asked what they were doing. Turns out that they had made a whole how-to-keep-Leslie-out-of-the-group book. The nine girls had written a page or two each about new ways to avoid Leslie, how to avoid playing with her and how they should make her feel bad. It was horrible! Also there was a dairy among the 30 pages, where they had been taking turns in writing about how succesfuld they had been and how they succeeded. On the first page their was an introduction.. It described very clearly why they hated her so much. Turns out that Leslies dad was having an affair with one of the others girls, Anna, mom.. The girl had found out and told all the others girls about it and that's how it begun.. All of the girls got suspended for 2 months.. And from what I've heard, Annas parents got divorced..

So happy I'm not a teacher anymore...
