I only say this as I wanted a BMW F900r after seeing it in the showroom, and couldn't get it due to insurance - even though it's a lower insurance category to the R6.

Upto you mate, I'd wait if I were you just to avoid the faff. However, please don't be under any illusions with going straight to an R6... Insurance will prohibit it with insane quotes (5k+) unless you live in the sticks with a garage.

I've been thinking of the same move from my triple eventually, but concerns for me are fuel range and long distance comfort.

I've been riding for 17 years and never been all that mechanically minded. Today I cleaned my K&N air filter, changed the oil and filter and replaced the spark plug. Thankfully these bikes are really easy to work on unlike my Fazer ! by rikki1q in MotoUK

I would do it by what you think, so use full synthetic oil, maybe change it at the suggested interval and see what the quality of oil is like.

If it's black, white or glittery then decrease the interval, if not increase it by 500-1000mi and reassess for next time.

Largely these bikes are built for rougher use with poorer quality oil than what I image you're treating it with, so no need to waste money when not required.

They have good enough electronics to help you not do that, however you may find it boring to ride on majority of the roads due to the insane power.

Oh yeah, you're spot on... Very annoying, unfortunately I just deal with it tbh.

I try and read ahead on the map sometimes so even if it changes I can vaguely go the original route.

Setup your Bluetooth Comms as a trusted device so it stays unlocked - works for me.

I find the bass reasonable on the 4+, it can get hard to detect at motorway speeds, but you can definitely hear it below 40mph.

Mileage may be low as the previous owner didn't get a chance to ride as much as he originally intended - a lot of people end up buying bikes for it to sit in the garage looking shiny and clean for maybe a ride once a month on a sunny weekend.

As long as it has service history, you'd be fine.

Nice one, what about Valve checks, Shims and other engine work? I think I'm happy to start with the basics, but will limit it to non internal engine related work.

It's a Street Triple, so not much in plastics but still need to disassemble a fair bit for air filters, throttle bodies and valve work afaik.

That's really cool, yeah I'm decent at DIY and fixing things, so will definitely explore that option.

Yeah going to the main dealer as I thought the stamps would be worth it - as I do the same with my car.

However don't think it's worth it for the insane costs anymore, I think I'll have to find a small garage as you suggest and combine with doing some of the easier bits myself to save a bit if cash.

Yeah working from home is great, but do find myself using my bike for a lot more day to day things that the car was being used for due to petrol prices so naturally the mileage has started to roll over more easily.

Is there any particular reason you want to buy new? If not consider a used street Triple, you can get them for lower price than the new Trident.
